Smallville fans are in for a treat when the complete series hits DVD later this Fall. All 218 episodes on 62 discs, plus never before seen footage and content brings the price tag on this one to about $224.99 via Amazon (and if you pre-order from there, not only do you lock in the price, but you also support SHoE in the process!)

Also being released on that same date in the Fall will be season 10 on DVD and BluRay, which are both available for pre-order now via Amazon as well, and you guessed it, it helps SHoE out when you pre-order those as well! Check out the specs for the complete series after the jump.

“Booster” Airs Tonight!

DC COMICS CHARACTER BOOSTER GOLD ARRIVES FROM the FUTURE; The BLUE BEETLE IS BORN! — After everything that happened with the VRA, Lois tells Clark it’s best to make “Clark Kent” forgettable and awkward so people don’t suspect he’s The Blur. However, the two are stunned when a fame-hungry superhero from the future, Booster Gold (guest star Eric Martsolf, “Days of Our Lives”), sweeps into town and begins making saves and posing for press ops, completely winning over the city of Metropolis. Booster begins his campaign to take The Blur’s place as the “World’s Greatest Superhero” and tries to charm Lois into writing a story about him, but she’s not having his antics and begins her own campaign for The Blur. During one of Booster’s saves, an alien weapon in the form of a scarab falls from a truck and fuses itself to a boy named Jaime Reyes (guest star Jaren Brandt Bartlett), turning him into the Blue Beetle. Unfortunately, Jaime is unable to control the suit and Blue Beetle starts attacking Metropolis.

If you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and scroll down to Derek’s advance review of tonight’s episode. You won’t want to miss this one! Our episode for ‘Booster’ is already in the can and will be posted while tonight’s episode airs, so check back for it immediately and come back to discuss with other viewers!

Derek’s Advance “Booster” Review

April 21st, 2011 by Derek | 20 Comments

boosterreview1I’ll be the first to say, when ‘Booster’ was announced, I wasn’t really looking forward to it. Booster Gold has never been one of my favorite characters in the DC Universe, and I thought Geoff Johns might have been bringing something bigger to his final episode of “Smallville”; personally I thought Mon-El would have been a great episode this season for Johns, and for Welling to direct. When it was announced that ‘Booster’ would be one of the final episodes, I got even more worried. Johns’ episodes have a way of standing out, almost being like one-shots in Smallville, and not larger, continuity type episodes to overall season arcs. So, I was concerned that staring down the barrel of the final four episodes, we’d have something that, while awesome (as GJ’s episodes usually are), would not capture the true spirit of the culminating final steps to Superman.

I was wrong.

Rebecca’s “Kent” Review

April 20th, 2011 by Rebecca | 12 Comments

kentreviewRedemption. One word, so clearly weighted with expectation, very clearly was the theme of “Kent,” the seventeenth episode of Smallville’s final season. Not only did the episode offer redemption for the alternate universe’s Jonathan Kent, and the opportunity to choose redemption for Clark Luthor, but the episode itself was, in some ways, redemption for the season’s most divisive episode, “Luthor.” Many loved “Luthor.” It was dark, it was gothic, it tickled the fancy of some comic book readers by claiming Clark Luthor was his universe’s Ultraman, the evil answer to Superman.

CLARK RETURNS TO THE ALTERNATE UNIVERSE AND RUNS INTO JONATHAN — Clark is shocked to find a mirror box in the barn. Clark Luthor surprises him and sends Clark Kent back to the alternate reality where Clark runs into a very angry Jonathan Kent (guest star John Schneider). Meanwhile, back in our reality, Clark Luthor visits Tess and tells if she doesn’t side with him he’ll kill her. Lois asks Emil (guest star Allesandro Juliani) to help her bring Clark back.

This is it! The beginning of the end…of the beginning… only five episodes of Smallville remain and after a lengthy hiatus, the show returns tonight with the seventeenth episode of the season, ‘Kent’. And trust us, it’s going to be amazing! After the episode, come back here to discuss it, and keep your eye out for Episode 170 of SHoE!
