I’ll admit I was sad to hear that you were leaving Starkville’s House of El. A void will forever be missing in the podcasting universe.

I will say it has been an honor to know you and work beside you the times I filled in when you weren’t able to host. It was also fun to write for the website as a reviewer of episodes.

Derek, SHoE will not be the same without you. At least you got past 100 episodes!!

Thanks for all of those great shows! Your podcast brought me big laughs and insight. When I wasn’t too happy with an episode, your analysis (often times) made me change my mind. I’m curious as to what episodes other than “Legion” will have commentary. It says *cast* and crew, so it would be cool to get some of the regulars on. The only time we’ve had a regular on since season 4 was John Glover last year…every other time it was just a guest character (Justin, James) or only crew.

Derek, I have enjoyed the times we’ve talked and I’ve have a ton of fun working on the ACC cards for you. Being a small part of the amazing podcast that you help start has been a blast. I thank you with all my heart for your hard work, and dedication. It really shows in every episode.

And besides, anyone who takes the time to write out an insult about “comic book geeks” who “live with your parents” because they are mad that a specific podcast isn’t out–well, that’s kind of an immensely geeky, lame, and hypocritical thing to do.

This is my first time on this site by the way. I just thought I should say something. =P

Maybe to help make up for the “lateness” you can put up an edited and an unedited/uncut version of the SHoE episode for “Doomsday”. Just a thought.

So just take your guys’ time since I rather have a well done episode than a possible rushed one. Also, I’m sure that the wait will be worth it since more times than not, each episode that’s put out aren’t a disappointment.

In other words, for those who are continually complaining for no new SHoE episodes lately, give it a rest already.

Kudos, Derek, on such a fantastic interview; and kudos to Cassidy for being so awesome and forthcoming about her thoughts, opinions, etc. I am now a committed long-term new fan. Best of luck to her in everything! SHoE FTW.

Throughout this season Clark (rightfully) had continuously stated that human life is precious and that there is good in all people. When he found out that Davis was Doomsday, after the obligatory guilt trip, Clark genuinely tried to save Davis, only to, come finale time, realize that Davis is the monster they needed to be worried about, not Doomsday. In other words, I thought that reveal was far more powerful than a predictable fight that we’ve already seen in Superman #75.

I loved the Lois/RBB phone call and I can’t wait to see how they handle the Lois situation and whether or not where she was sent will reveal anything to her about Clark or not. I’m over the “Lois shouldn’t know yet” thing. This is Smallville and they’ve already changed many things about the mythos (like not only having Clark and Lois meet so early, but having her fall for him first) that having Lois know this early wouldn’t bother me.

The one thing that really bothered me (a LOT, like, I HATED IT) was that Chloe was not held responsible for her part in all of this…except by Rokk, but I wanted her to acknowledge her role because, really, all of this was her fault. She withheld her Brainiac infection, she withheld what she knew about Davis’ blackouts, she KILLED A MAN AND THE ONLY ONE THAT KNOWS IS OLIVER (I wonder how Clark would feel about that), and she stopped (manipulated) Clark from sending Davis to the Phantom Zone, a solution, I might add, that would have prevented many deaths, namely Jimmy’s and subsequently “Clark Kent’s”. I’m sorry to the Chloe fans, but that’s a Lana move and I don’t tolerate it even if the character is a fan favorite.

And to make a long story short, Clark rocked this entire season, I loved the addition of Tess to the cast, I’m really sick of Oliver and Chloe telling Clark what to do like he isn’t a grown man (especially since his plans are GOOD and RIGHT) and I can’t wait for the season 9 premiere. This season gets a 4.77 out of 5 (95% for the teachers out there. Points taken off solely due to the epic fail that was “Power” and the lack of Chloe culpability.)

Oh well…I’m ok with the Jimmy thing, I thought that was an intersting twist on the character. And it does free up Chloe now to once again go goo goo for Clark, which I think would be cool if caused a rift between her and Lois.

I give this finale a 2 out of 5…I was just really disapointed and felt let down by the pace of this finale…but I’ll be there next season to give them a chance to make it up!

question: did I miss the “reaction show”? Or has that not been posted yet? Not complaining, i just don’t want to miss any last bit of SHOEy goodness.

He even says it was fine for him to bring a Jimmy thats older cause a 10 year old guy couldnt have done much.
And he doesnt know if its totally true about the DC requirements…

As for the deaths, Davis’ wasn’t surprising but the one involving Jimmy because for all they could’ve done, Oliver may of been the one who died since Green Arrow did die in the comics. Still, I’m interested to see what those two characters dieing will impact the next season.

Also, the actor who played Davis may not be gone from the show since it’s been rumored that he may return in the ninth season to be General Zod since it was mentioned that Davis looked like his “father”. A long shot but it would be interesting.

Anyway, wasn’t my favorite season finale but I still enjoyed it. About a 4 out of 5

Hmmm why does the picture in this post look so familiar?

One: It wasn’t just the budget issue with Doomsday (which was a big problem), but after that huge buildup – “Kal El, you will die” – Clark seemed to manhandle him pretty well, stuffing him down a hole, then somehow managed to get out of the hole while leaving Doomsday trapped in it. I’m sorry, but that didn’t work for me.

Two: Chloe, who married Jimmy, approaches the boy as if she’s never met him before. “You must be Jimmy’s …” Don’t you think she would have met his stinking family before they got married?!?

Amazing finale. Possibly better than “Zod” in my mind–in terms of how it throws the next season into high gear and it weaves in elements of the mythos in a new and interesting way.

Trying so hard not to leave spoilers. But holy CRAP man. The boy–THE BOY!!! That’s perfect!!!

As for the naming of the possible “relationship” between Lois and Red-Blue Blur (Clark), I’m not all that picky with the names that go with possible couples. However, if a name has to be made how about “Bluris”? Stupid I Know but when you guys were talking about it the name just popped into my head.

Not to say that I’m against the cover art because after all most of the show has taken place in Metapolis than the actual Smallville and the two characters on the cover was a nice choice as well. However, the whole SHoE symbol at the corner makes me have some doubts.

It would be nice if the DVD set has something about SHoE but I think about when a fan pasted Starkville’s House of El homepage in a screenshot where Lois was sitting by a computer. If it is indeed it would be nice if there were some SHoE 2 like commentary for some of the episodes. Maybe have Steve and Chloe do an episode together.
