It has recently been called to our attention that Smallville series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are departing the series after the conclusion of the seventh season.

KryptonSite has posted a letter to the fans of Smallville from Al and Miles themselves, delivering this sad sad news to us.

UPDATE: Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin, and Darren Swimmer have been named as the show runners for season 8.

The pre-strike original season finale of Smallville airs tonight, entitled “Veritas”, and while somethings have changed from the original, intended version - a lot has remained, and many things that will propel the season forward, while answering a lot of questions from the past, with some big surprises.

Be sure not to miss this episode as it will feature more mythology from the show. Not only does Brainiac (James Marsters) return but we see the first Daily Planet team up of Lois/Olsen, the truth about the death of Patricia Swann, and a turning moment for Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.

The fourteenth episode of the season, “Traveler” airs tonight at 8pm/7(ct) on the CW in your local areas.

Be sure NOT to miss this episode as it will feature lots of main mythology that has been on the show since the beginning. It will also answer a lot of questions regarding Lionel, Veritas and much much more. This episode will also feature the arrival of Patricia Swann, daughter of Virgil Swann (Christopher Reeve’s character from seasons 2 & 3). It is going to be huge and epic on so many levels!

Kristin Kreuk has posted on her Facebook account regarding her status with Smallville and some details about her place in season eight:

Hey Team…

So, I thought I would give those of you curious about Smallville a brief debrief. I am in Bangkok for a few more months. So, no shooting of the Ville for me. I will return for a undetermined, although small, number of episodes in season 8.

I am not really opening up the floor for lots of discussion, because it is not really the place for it. Obviously I have loved my time on the show, but I am equally as thrilled to move on to new endeavors. One of which is very dear to me, and that is GBD (Girls By Design). So thank you all for your really fabulous support and passion!!! I hope this clears up most of the questions…

We can count on losts of product placement along with a “striding” new superpower for him.
