Amazon.com has begun listing Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season for pre-order on DVD & BluRay available on August 25th, 2009, a bit earlier than usual.
In addition to all twenty-two episodes of the eighth season, extras are to include a featurette on bringing Doomsday to life (called it!), a behind the scenes look at Allison Mack’s directorial debut for episode 8×13, “Power”, cast and crew commentaries, as well as deleted scenes.

Since the finale, fan speculation has been strong that the figure standing outside of Tess’ window in the final moments of “Doomsday”, was that of Zod and the vessel for his body would be that of charismatic paramedic Davis Bloome (Zod’s son, if you remember correctly). Since that time, Sam Witwer has hinted that he won’t be returning to the show for season 9, despite early rumors that two characters will die (Davis and Jimmy) but only one actor won’t be returning (Aaron Ashmore). Naturally, with Doomsday being gone for the time being, it was easy to assume that Sam Witwer would be playing the the part of the character seen in the cliffhanger of the episode, but a casting notice sent out today may soon prove otherwise. The second in our series of Doomsday interview is Cassidy Freeman. One of the newest starts on the show, Cassidy discusses how she got the role of Tess Mercer, what this season has meant for her and her character, the events of Doomsday, and some personal hopes on what’s to come.

Oliver tells Clark he must kill Davis, as Doomsday is a serious threat and must be stopped at all costs. However, Clark struggles with taking a human life, so the Green Arrow and his team decide to take matters into their own hands. Lois takes on Tess, but the fight takes a shocking turn. Meanwhile, Chloe gets caught in the middle of Oliver and Clark’s battle over killing Davis.

Chloe returns and begs Clark to kill Davis, claiming he can no longer keep the beast under control. Tess has assembled a team of meteor freaks, including Plastique (guest star Jessica Parker Kennedy), to track down Davis so Clark can kill him. However, things get out of hand once Tess’ team discovers she is double-crossing them.
