SHoE: Episode 175 – “Sign-Off”

Reports of its death were highly exaggerated. “Starkville’s House of El: The Movie” (aka Episode 175) is a 2 hour documentary chronicling the story of Smallville, SHoE, and the friendships and stories that were born out of both. It’s our thank you to our listeners for five years of being there with us every week, and our final farewell to a show that kept us watching for ten years about a boy who became a Superman. The End.

A link to download your own copy of SHoE 175 will be available shortly and it will be also be available on our iTunes feeds tomorrow.

I’m SO GLAD that at long last this has been released. Was only able to gloss over some of it but what I’ve seen was AMAZING. When I have the time I’ll be sure to watch it in it’s entirety. Once again, thank you Derek, Steve and all the rest of the SHoE family. Been one hell of a run and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Lastly, I know it might be asking much but would it be possible to download just the audio of this episode? Not sure my computer will be able to let me watch the video version and would be nice to have a back of some sort just in case.

I’ll be burning a DVD copy of this, and it will go on my shelf right next to my Smallville DVDs–because this show has been an integral part of my Smallville experience, and I would not have enjoyed this show NEARLY as much if I hadn’t gotten the chance to share it with you guys. Thank you so much for this.

Just finished watching and I think I’m still trying to process that this project is now complete. I’m so glad we have Geek Out Loud and I’m starting to get into Please Stand By… otherwise I’d miss hearing you guys having fun talking about random stuff too much. SHoE is as much a part of my memories of Smallville as getting some of my friends into the show to watch Seasons 9 and 10 with me. (Though I was still the bigger geek about everything, and turned to SHoE for comfort when said-friend’s-spouse complained about not seeing Superman yet. “It’s about the JOURNEY!!!”)

This is a MOVIE. As much as we joked or may not have joked about a Smallville Movie post series-end, you guys have outdone yourselves. THIS is how a podcast closes the curtain on 5 years of hard work, especially when so much love, sweat, and tears have gone into it like this one.

With as much footage as you guys shot the weekend following the Smallville Finale, your own personal videos, and from all of the listener and staff submitted entries, I can imagine there was a lot left on the cutting room floor, so to speak. I at least hope that all you (hosts past and pres-erm… recent) got to keep the full clips of listener submitted section for yourselves. I don’t need to see more of me gushing about how much I loved listening to the show, but I hope that you guys know how much your efforts to put this show out every week for 5 years meant to the rest of this “global community.”

    Thank you SO much!

A wonderful ending to a wonderful podcast. It is not just been a podcast but an experience where we all have met wonderful friendships that we will take with us. Thank you, Derek and Steve for all you have done for this journey.

  15. @Em well said. I 2nd that!!!

  16. Randy says:

This was the first episode I was able to view/listen to since getting an iPhone, meaning first episode after finally getting a video-capable iPod. This also meant that this was the first time I was able to put faces to everyone. This made me run back to the feed and try to catch all the video episodes that have been on that I never caught.

In the end, thank you guys for endless entertainment…often times even more entertaining that Smallville, itself!

  17. Mike C says:
