SHoE 175 Update
Remember in Episode 174 when we asked you to be patient? Keep it up! SHoE 175 is in the process of being completed and will hopefully be out by this weekend, though don’t hold me to that. With over 100 listener submitted videos, plus our own footage, this has been a huge undertaking to complete with the help of Revision3’s Graham Hancock. So we hope you’ll continue to be patient as he puts the finishing touches on the final episode.
I’ve seen the completed first seven minutes and it is killer. I truly believe it’s a fitting end for Starkville’s House of El and can’t wait to share it with you!
@Michael AC#1 In short,way better than expected,but honestly I didn’t like it very much.But that has everything to do with me being used to Superman and where he’s now and not because this is bad.The thing is though it has a great potential which most definitely will be realised,so that’s cool.I did like certain elements.
And I can see why the throwback to 1938 Superman.He’s tackling more down to earth problems and Dc ppl probably see that as a way for a new generation to feel more connected with Superman.
Especially considering the fact that lately,before the reboot he was literally and figuratively flying high,dealing with more of an out of this earth,transcendant issues,as well as he was made out to be this godly/saint/messiah creature.
The thing is he evolved to that point over time and I’m simply used to that.But in a reboot logic it is only natural for him to behave the way he does and that’s so very close to what he was when he was created.He’ll definitely evolve again.Yeah his tactics are more that of a Batman with forced confessions etc…plus he misses guidance from his Smallville human parents.Just as you,I hope we’ll get to that somehow,at some point..retroactively,obviously.Also now,more than when I was just guessing,I’m sure Lois will be a positive and life changing influence on him.
In conclusion I repeat,it IS natural for him to be the way he is at the moment,as well as there is a certain appeal in Superman kicking ass once again,behaving as sort of a “bad boy”.Despite the fact that I’m not used to it,lol.
Elements that you,Michael,mentioned you liked,i find cool as well,not to repeat them.
He will fly,he will get all of his powers,no doubt about that,he’ll work at the DP,he’ll be with Lois,he’s yet to become Superman…etc.The way we get there could be a fun ride for those that will read it.
I like the art and his outfit,maybe without that short cape could have worked in Smallville quite well,lol.
Oh and respect to you @Michael for being more open to these changes,but see those are the shortcomings of getting older,you’re less ready to accept changes and more prone to stick to what you’re used to,lol!
@James Yeah. I agree with some of your points. I have mixed feelings on the cape, I would rather it be a red jacket. I am upset that his parents are both dead (as stated in some article that was released a month or two ago). Jonathan and Martha were always important to Supes origin, so I will miss them. I think after this train incident that he will become more of the Superman that we know know and love. I actually loved this Action Comics #1. I thought it was great. More of a Dean Cain/Tom Welling (season 9) Clark Kent/Superman. That’s cool. I did however, like Justice League and Detective Comics MUCH MORE, which is saying something seeing as how I loved AC. Anyway, what are your thoughts on JL and DC?
@Michael It’s not that I didn’t like it as much as I’m used to something else.But I repeat..it does have potential,I’m sure it’ll be realised and I do understand why it is the way it is.Also I did like some things,as well as overall feeling,you know..the start of something new..that’s something I always like.
On those other two,don’t have any thoughts since I haven’t read it.Didn’t even plan to,but since my trip to Malta has been postponed,I just might buy it and take it with me,or buy it over there,since I don’t think I’m gonna have time to read any books while there.

@Derek I am sure you saw a couple of months ago that Tom Welling said in an interview that he would be open to a Smallville movie it it were right…. I know the odds are slim, but in your opinion, is there ANY chance that something like this would ever happen?? I assume that it won’t happen on the big screen, that DC wouldn’t want to “confuse” us “idiot” fans with two different Supermen (Welling and Cavill) in separate and unrelated movies, but what about maybe a made for tv movie or miniseries or something??! It just would be fantastic to see Tom, Erica, Michael, Justin, and Allison play their characters again…. I know the odds are slim, but one can still hope I guess :-) I was just wondering what your opinion of this ever happening is…
@James Yeah, I definitely say that you should read Detective Comics. It’s classic Batman with a great twist. BAT-TASTIC!!! Justice League is a given though. That one you have to read. Can’t wait to read your thoughts on those two.
I actually met a guy who designs toys for DC Comics characters today in Burbank California apparently he has an office only a couple doors down from Geoff Johns. Los Angeles is really cool.
I just don’t care any more. Way too much time has passed since the finale and it just doesn’t matter. Maybe we expect too much, but maybe so much should’ve been promised.
Easy guy, the last season isn’t even out on DVD yet. Have some patience and enjoy life.

Seriously I don’t understand what’s the rush..guys have jobs..you know ones that actually pay the bills and besides once this ep comes and goes..that’s it,no more people!I wouldn’t have minded if SV season ten was split in two.Patience sometimes IS a virtue.
And I’m sure it’ll be worth a wait.I’ve read Derek’s tweet where he says he’s seen some of it and was amazed by what he’d seen.I’m paraphrasing,of course.
@ James…some of us are just anxious for the finale episode of shoe to happpen…I wanna see this “finale” to SHOE. Derek and Steve are incredible podcasters…I hope they do Ringer or something else other than the Geek Out Loud podcast…I want more…I really do wish however they would do an episode by episode breakdown of Smallville’s 10 seasons…that would be great to hear their perspectives

@Charlie Untz I agree,it would be great to have more SV content from the guys,but as you obviously know episode by episode breakdown is out of the question.In fact as you say they’ll most likely close this feed alltogether after the final podcast.From some of the tweets I’ve read they’re about to put the entire thing ‘ad acta’.
wnat to know something completely screwed up? 35 year old hector chavez got cosmetic surgery. i know theres a desease where people are upset with how they look(no idea how to spell it) but if anyone walked in to a clinic saying “i want to look like superman” and the doctor doesnt send them for a psycological evaluation they should have thier licence revoked, must have different laws in the phillipines. apparently this guy has been doing this since 1995

@phill Geez!! That IS screwed up! You know what’s even more screwed up as obvious from that photo! He still DOESN’T look anything like Superman..AT ALL..after all that crap he’s been through!!
He’s short and Asian! And no amount of surgery will ever change that,so yeah as you say that is a desease/disorder.I think it has something to do with chemical inbalance in the brain.Sad really…
@James @phill I agree it’s screwed up. But there is one picture of Superman (in one of the photos with him on the internet) that actually looks somewhat like that….ANYWAY CREEPY!!!!! If he really can’t be pleased with who he is, he needs some serious help….

anybody know who would probably have not made a great Superman…the guy who played Ghost Rider……..I heard the Superman suit looked like it had been painted on
Nick Cage would definitely not have been a good Superman. He isn’t even the best Ghost Rider…
It’s not even the best idea for him to be on screen at all.Except in the role of complete weirdos!
@James I like him in the National Treasure movies. I even somewhat liked him in Ghost Rider. Just a little bit…
anyone else find it odd that the day after erica durance was on charlies angles ABC cancles it? not saying it was her fault but you have to admit its pretty wierd

What does everyone think about the Justice League: Doom and The Avengers trailers?
I am liking this JL: Doom thing. It looks sweet like all the other DC Universe Animated movies. Same universe as Young Justice and Crisis on Two-Earths.

I heard Charlie’s angels was bad…bad writing..bad dialogue…I realize Erica’s trying out other series since she’s been attached to Smallville for 6 years but wow…they canceled that shortly after she appeared on it
@Charlie Untz I heard the same thing as you about Charlies Angels and it wasn’t hard to believe it.Anyhow didn’t check it out for myself,cause it’s not even close to a realm/dimension/universe of anything that would caught a trace element of my interest.
Also Erica’s episode was filmed long before they decided to cancel that disaster due to ratings,so she couldn’t have had anything to do with that.It was just a weird coincidence,that’s all.
Anyone else heard about some new series with her as a lead,or is that just a rumor?

OK i get it, we shouldn’t rush them, but i mean its the end of October…this was posted on June 6th, where it says they are putting finishing touches on the episodes. Anyone else think they accidentally deleted it and don’t have the heart to tell us?

I have to agree with Charlie on this one. I check back once a week, hoping to get the final episode of ShoE.
@Derek Please release the final episode of SHoE!!!!! I really hate to get picky with you guys, but we have been waiting since May. As long as it’s out by Christmas I’ll be good, but sometimes I do have to wonder how long it really takes.
maybe they’re holding off for when the final season bluray comes out?
@phill Possibly. But and this in no way way should be taken as an insult to SHoE but I have moved on with my life with this Final SHoE podcast sooner or later one has too.
AN UPDATE!!!
For those who keep peeking in to see where SHoE #175 is I have news! Derek has asked me to take over the editing of #175 from Graham. Graham has done the heavy lifting for me but his schedule is way too full to finish so I’ll be putting on the final touches. The project is on it’s way to me and I’ll do my best to get this thing finished up as fast as I can while keeping the quality high. I’ll try and keep you guys updated on my progress when I can.
