Thank You Smallville and all of it’s cast and crew, creators, showrunners, everyone for making this past couple of years of my life magical as it otherwise wouldn’t have been for sure and Thank You Derek and Steve and all of the others involved with this site and podcast for spicing things up,making me laugh and overall making this amazing ride that much more enjoyable!!

I’ve been in this fandom for two years and I feel a deep emotional impact of it’s closure,I can only imagine( only perhaps) how it must affect you who’ve lived with this show for the past decade!

This is it! 10 years in the making! I’m 31 years old and the anticipating of tonight’s EPIC event brings me back to my youth awaiting Christmas morning to open my gifts.

I started listening to SHoE right around the time you guys did the trapped in the phantom zone bit with the original crew before they left to tackle life’s greatest adventures. SHoE was the very first podcast I’d ever listened to and I’ve enjoyed the hell out of you guys! Your work and dedication has made my time on my job a lot easier and more enjoyable week after week. I’ve tried listening to other podcast and outside of the ones Steve has been apart of, none has ever come close to the excitement nor the professionalism as SHoE!

Thank you for adding such great memories to my Smallville experience. In my mind, Smallville and SHoE truly goes hand and hand…like peanut butter and jelly. Everyone has done an OUTSTANDING job with SHoE and where ever this takes you in the entertainment business, just know you guys have a fan for life!

  5. I cannot wait any longer. I’m at school, and I need to get through this day for tonight! Ahhhhhhhhh! Can’t wait for SHoE episode 174 either guys!

  6. CLT says:

In the picture above Clark is looking at Lex and thinking “Is that a bald cap?” lol But on a serious note I was 19 when I started watching Smallville and it is hard for me to believe its been 10 years. It has and will always be one of my favorite shows, I know the show will go out with a bang. Thank you Smallville!!! And Thank you SHoE for having such a great forum for all of us fans of the show to share our thoughts and comments. Never see and end to a journey, but a beginning to a new one!!!!

  7. Scott1.0 says:

I can’t believe this is it, i’m in a state of shock. Even though it’s bittersweet I’m glad its ending on a high note instead of a just being canceled out of the blue like Fox’s Breaking In ( God I hate you Fox ). I found ShoE around the time Steve came on, from than it became a ritual to watch in episode and listen to the podcast. Derek and Steve are really the heart of SHoE and listening to them has made my decade love for Smallville that much better. Thanks to everyone involved with ShoE and putting your time and dedication into this podcast. It’s so cool to know that Steve and Derek will continue podcasting after Smallville has ended. See you all after the show tonight, today is going to be epic.

  8. Joe says:

    WOW…. It’s getting real.

I don’t know if any of us will be in the right state of mind to do a live show tonight. #Tears #TheEnd

  9. Vin says:

Any ideas on who the guest cameo is going to be? If you check IMDB there is some interesting people listed on the cast list that havent been mentioned in promos or on spoilers

  10. Tim says:

If you guys haven’t been to newsarama, there’s an interview about the finale that ends with Kelly and Brian saying they plan on continuing the story through a new comic series!!!

  11. Ryan says:

Can’t wait for tonight! I have such mixed emotions about this! I’m beyond excited to watch tonight, but i’m going to be soooooooooooooooo sad when its over. 10 years is a long long time!

  12. Dave says:

This is the end… beautiful friend…

I love this show. Freaking love it. And i really freaking love SHoE. I’ll miss them both, equally.

  13. James says:

@Joe Hey man,it’s all about keeping it real!!;)

I hear you,how you’re all gonna keep it together for tonight’s show,I don’t know either, lol! You’re all gonna be in an altered state of mind, under such impression from everything all at once.t’s gonna be interesting, that’s for sure!
It’s so appropriate and great that you’re doing it live tonight though!!

  14. phill says:

this isnt just the end of smallville its the end of superman as we know him

  15. Kay says:

    Hello SHoEligans,

Can’t believe the series ends tonight! I’m going to miss Smallville, SHoE, and (most) of the fandom. Hope everyone enjoys the finale tonight!

  16. Laurie says:

I can’t use Twitter. I can’t make a video. But I will miss all you guys very much. I started listening to SHoE from almost the beginning even before Will was added to the show. I didn’t even have an IPod back then and would listen to ya’ll on my computer at work where I was all alone in a basement office in Tucker, Georgia with no one to talk to. You guys kept me sane. I would listen to the old shows over and over while awaiting the new show each week. Steve, you were a wonderful addition and I am so glad you are for the end. Derek, I was sad when you left and so happy when you decided to return. Try as he might, Steve just could not get the episode titles straight. And all you other guys made the show very enjoyable. Thank you so much for your dedication and continuing this to the end. You will be sorely missed. Good luck to you all.

  17. Kevin says:

    Derek & Steve,

I feel like it was time that i finally thanked you for the incredible job you do. I have been a passionate Smallville fan from the beginning of the show and a Superman fan my entire life. And I have introduced numerous people to the show in the years it has been on. Unfortunately, for me, I did not discover your podcast until season 7. But I have gone back and listened to all of the old episodes I could find. Since finding you guys, my weekly “Smallville Expreience” has been enhanced exponentially. Each week I find my self anticipating a new episode of SHoE almost as much as a fresh new Smallville. I used to have a Smallville night every thursday with a group of close friends but have since had a falling out with them. It was shortly after this that I learned about SHoE and found a whole new place where I could share thoughts, feelings and all sorts of pleasure/disdain of episodes with fans once again. SHoE opened me up to the world of podcasts and I became a devoted follower of 10th Wonder and SkyNext as well. I have tried listening to other podcasters, but none seem to live up to the bar that you guys set with your passion, insight and love of what you do. Thank you so much for all of the tire-less hours you guys have put into this podcast and I look forward to tuning in to future episodes of Geek Out Loud (the official podcast of geekoutonline). You guys are the best. (Joe, Damien and Robin: you are also second to none in all of your contributions to SHoE as well. I am forever a fan of all of you and wish the best to everyone associated with this podcast.)

  18. TJ says:

Wow…Wonder Woman got the Mercy Reef treatment.
From what I’ve read, the pilot was apocalyptically bad.

  19. TJ says:

But, anyways…The time that’s been ten years in the making will be here shortly. I’ve got 12 of my friends coming over for a Smallville Finale party. Going all out with catering from Red Lobsters and dessert from Lemadelliens.
A toast to the cast and crew of Smallville for 10 years of hard work and dedication that they have put into making this wonderful show…You will be missed.

  20. Crazy Kyle says:

Smallville ends tonight…but a new chapter in all our lives begins.

  21. Vin says:

I have a question, if we cant be around tonight live to listen to the gang do their thing after the episode, will it be available for download at a later date?

  22. Tim says:

@Vin Derek has said the audio will be released later on the normal SHoE feed, and if you want the video version, I assume the U-Stream replay will be posted on the site like it was for Absolute Justice and Pandora.

  23. phill says:

my only hope is that there is limited commercial interuption brought to you by green lantern(and they use black sabbith’s superman song)

  24. phill says:

so thats what they blew the budgit on, very impressive combo of wirework and superspeed visual effect

  25. phill says:

i belive i speak for everyone when i say that was exactly what i expected and more.

  26. jason says:

wow amazing still had tear in my eyes as it ended. and I REALLY want the comic

  27. Mike-El says:

WOW WOW WOW There were many great moments, but the three best…FLIGHT, Lex killing Tess, Ending with Clark ripping open his shirt to reveal the suit…EPIC!!!

  28. jacob says:

all i can say is amazing….superman is ready to fly up up and away

  29. jimjvortex says:

I’m ready to cry tears of joy. It was everything I expected and more.

  30. Khalif says:

I’m sorry but I was disappointed. This was Angel series finale all over again. NO ONE even called him Superman!!!!! There was no big reveal to the world that he’s Superman. They only bent the whole rule on no flight no tights. He was floating and barely showed him flying. When he was wearing the suit you only saw him in CG form or just parts of the suit on him. OH, ONE PUNCH TO BEAT DARKSEID?!?!?!

  31. Khalif says:

I admit that I loved the scenes between Clark and Johnathan. The drama was good but the budget for the action was wasted on a wedding that didn’t even finish.

  32. Tanner says:

I loved it, and I think the Angel finally all over again thing is funny because that was my favorite finally (maybe not after this). Had everything I wanted and more. Great stuff.

  33. Tanner says:

    finale

  34. James says:

Absolutely AMAZING!! It was more than I expected,my fears were put to rest and what can I say, gotta watch it again, calm down, clear my thoughts but all n’ all total EPICNESS!!
Everyone got what they wanted, with the wedding that we HAVE seen,I don’t need to hear oficcial proclamation; You’re a husband and wife now.,with such great emotions, romantic ones with Clark & Lois/Tom & Erica-both amazing(Erica outdid herself once again,I wonder where does she draw such real emotion) and family-related with Jonathan and Martha, draw backs, reflections to SV’s past.. perfect acting and most importantly most of us Superman fans GOT the Superman we waited for and Jor-El and their relationship as it should be,Clark flying away from FOS as Superman!!
Screw the little quibbles,it was AWESOME!!! Tears of joy and happiness!

And @Khalif he was called Superman,by Chloe though and I’d rather it was Lois, but still he was called Superman.

  35. James says:

@Michael J. Petty Guess you should’ve waited till Finale before announcing you were right about Lex,ha..? Lol
He did die,te original one,the one living now is not only a clone, but a Frankenstein with cloned body parts stiched together and he doesn’t remember!
    That’s why it’s usually a jinx to say I told you so,ha,ha!

But hey, nevermind you at least held out hope for Rosenbaum’s return..almost to the end.;)
Anyway everything aligned itself so perfectly in the end and we got a perfect, original and yet classic and epic Superman story..could we have asked for more?

Can’t wait for your show,I think everyone here should at least check it out!

  36. BEST EPISODE OF SMALLVILLE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. Quinten says:

Is it weird that my favorite moment of the episode was the Jimmy cameo? I knew there was going to be a surprise cameo at some point in the episode but it never crossed my mind that it could be Jimmy, it was perfect. Luckily I didn’t notice Aaron Ashmore’s name at the beginning.

  38. phill says:

    suck it continuity, clollie forever

also why did they kill off tess?

and were those the show runners(brian and kelly) sitting behind martha and “jonithan”(the amount of times he said “my son” lead me to belive that he was a projection by jor-el)

  39. phill says:

bad news for mr.rosenbaum “breaking in” was cancled

  40. Audrey says:

I agree with Matt Mittovich….Erica Durance does the “wet eyed” emotional love tears better than anyone else on television.

I swear to God I have no tears left after watching that scene at the door with Clark and Lois. I am drained of all my tears.

  41. JohnT says:

I agree with Khalif. Darkseid seemed like all he did was blow a lot of smoke. And the tiny CG Blur (not Superman, because nobody saw Welling in the suit, including us) “inspired” them by moving the fireball out of the way. Okay, yeah, he saved them from the fireball, but how does that remove the omega from their skull? And how does that “inspire” them? “Inspiration” is not simply an act – there is an idea behind it. They could have provided that by having Welling say something like “Hi everyone, my name is Superman, aka the Blur, it’s nice to meet you face to face, and I’m here to help.” We got nothing.

And why exactly did Lex return? It didn’t serve the story. Lionel didn’t need to be there either. Ugh. I’m just so frustrated at the story telling. Having the elements we love doesn’t make it a good story. I think they dropped the ball.

  42. @James It’s gotta be the real Lex’s brain though. There’s no way he wouldn’t say his brain wasn’t perfect. Plus, a clone that has every memory even to the point where Clark called him Lex and not a clone of Lex. He’s the real Lex in my book. Just sayin’.

  43. James says:

@Michael I agree,in fact that’s what I’ve been sayin the whole time, during discussion whether Lex died,or not..if you got his clone with all the memories, technically he’s the same guy. That’s why I was so adamant at the fact that there’s no need to go about proving or ficing round the ofscreenwille that the real Lex didn’t die, cause obviously he did,if not in the Arctic then in the van explosion.
And as far as I remember you said back then that you’d be fine with that explanation.

But all of that isn’t important anymore cause he’s got no memory now and I really always knew that would be the case in the end cause to change that would simply be changing to much of the Superman mythos. In the end, over all things turned out even more traditional than I’d expected it to,they basically tied everything to what’s been Superman mythos for over 20 years now and much of it to the pre-crisis period even.
And guess what,I absolutely love it,as I said already, more than I believed I would..and I HAD believed I would love it in the end the whole time!!

  44. James says:

@JohnT You obviously didn’t pay that much attention and not just to finale but the rest of the season and the entire series,or you would have perfectly reasonable answers to all of your quibbles.

  45. John T says:

@James Sorry, man, I did pay attention … quite a bit. Explain to me how Lex’s return had anything to do with Clark’s battle against Darkseid other than circumstance.

  46. James says:

@John T Well go save the world so that we can go up against one another, like the SHoE guys said.

But,no actually it didn’t have anything to do with Clark’s battle with Darkseid, just like this finale wasn’t about Darkseid,or Clark’s battle against him. That will be the theme in the future with Clark as Supes already. This was about Clark BECOMING Superman.Him going against Darkseid was only one of the elements in the finale that finally pushed him to make that final step. And it wasn’t even the most important one.
And Lex definitely had and has everything to do with Superman..thing this finale was actually about.

  47. John T says:

@James Well, maybe that’s what I’m so hung up on. The story was so fragmented, I don’t think that as an episode you can really say what it was about. I liked a lot of the elements by themselves, I’m just having a hard time seeing how they fit together to tell a cohesive story. Not to mention, if you look at the logic of the events closely enough, there’s all kinds of issues (for example, a comic book which publishes Superman’s origins!).

Maybe I wouldn’t be so hard on them for all that if I didn’t think they wasted time on filler during the season. IMO, at least the two episodes leading up to the finale should have better prepared us for a solid finale.

Lastly, I understand that the SHoE guys are okay with him not being full-on in the suit, but I’m not. To me, that was the one thing that they absolutely had to do. A tiny CG character is not an adequate payoff after what they set us up for. I was anticipating an iconic Superman standing with his cape waving behind him. (Bonus points if they threw in an American flag.)

Oh well, it’s over. It drove me crazy, but I’ll miss it.

  48. James says:

@John T Fair enough.I don’t agree with you,but I do see and recognize your point.

  49. Randy says:

Finally got around to watching the finale (on iTunes). I know it’s late, but I’m sure you guys will understand. I was on honeymoon so I was occupied with other things :-) I also haven’t yet listened to the latest SHOE episode, so maybe you guys already answered some of these questions. But anyway, my thoughts and questions:

    - As expected, Rosenbaum was excellent…possibly the best thing about this finale…

-…BUT I’m a little upset that he has the mind-wipe at the end. This just makes 10 years of Lex development (particularly the Lex/Clark relationship) seem so unnecessary.

    - ALSO, has the US electoral process undergone such a huge overhaul that 2018 is an election year?!?!? I know…minor detail, but it does crawl at me.

    - The back and forth between Clark and Lois on whether or not to marry was rather gratuitous. Nevertheless, I did quite enjoy the scene talking to each other between the door. Maybe it’s because I just got married myself, but I was tearing up a bit at the two of them reading each other’s vows. I absolutely LOVED that Lois’ vows had a bunch of revision marks on it!

    - We knew that all of the previous cast would make a return in some form or another, so I was quite pleased to see Schneider and O’Toole back on screen together. Although I’m glad Lana’s storyline ended ages ago, there’s a part of me that wishes that she was somehow incorporated into the finale, possibly like Steve & Derek had mentioned in an old episode (possibly smiling as she reads one of Lois’ articles about Superman).

    - The montages from all the past seasons were nice, but seemed to stretch just a little too long, don’t ya think? Was this the producers’ way of saving on budget?

    - I’m rather glad that we never truly saw Welling in the Superman suit. A few images from afar were nice, but I think we all know that to actually see a close-up shot of him in the suit would have made him look a bit stupid.

    - Absolutely LOVED the John Williams themes incorporated as the final transition to Superman!

So all in all, a fun episode, with a few flaws, but a nice end to the 10 year journey.

  50. Woo says:

I had a thought fellow SHoEligans while I was listening to the podcast for “Finale” on my iPod Classic for the people who had an issue with Ashmore playing the younger brother, would you have preferred if Sam Hunnington played Jimmy in “Finale?”
