Who Will Return?

s10jks10mks10lanas10lexs10karas10petes10perry

With the final season of the series looming, it’s natural to want to revist people and places of the past. There are reunions and scenes we’ve wanted to see for nearly five years that will hopefully culminate within the final twenty-two episodes that span from September 2010 to May 2011.
Some of these familiar faces, we already know about, and some we are just speculating on, but check out our thoughts after the jump to find out who is coming back, and who we want to see return for season ten!

John Schneider – Jonathan Kent -  Last appearance: 5×21 - ’Oracle’

The last we saw of Pa Kent…well, the true Pa Kent, he died in his wife and son’s arms in the farm that he spent his life working on. Jonathan had a heart attack after a final encounter with Lionel Luthor, and died doing what he did best. Protecting his son and his family. Jonathan returned to Clark in 5×17 ‘Void’ to offer some fatherly advice from beyond the grave, when Clark flatlined and saw him in the barn one last time. Schneider reprised his role as Jonathan Kent one last time near the end of season five, but in a very different way. He appeared as a ghost to Clark, Martha, and Lionel and instruced his son to kill the senior Luthor…but it was really just Braniac trying to use Clark to kill Lionel so he would stay out of his and Lex’s way.

IGN has confirmed that Schneider will be returning as Jonathan Kent for the final season, in at least one (maybe two) episode(s). We do know that he will be in the premiere, 10×01 – ‘Lazarus’. Speculation is heavy on what this will entail, given the circumstances around Clark at the end of the ninth season finale, but news saying that the Smallville crew is returning to film scenes at Kent Farm have led several to believe that this may be some sort of flashback betwen Clark and Jonathan. Other believe that Clark will have a vision throughout the episode of he and Jonathan together, and that the Kent Farm will serve as some sort of heavenly back drop for the father/son duo. Hopefully, we will know more on this after this Sunday when footage of 10×01 will be shown at San Diego Comic Con.

Lara Vandervoort – Kara Kent – Last appearnce: 8×08 - ’Bloodline’

Kara’s dissapearnce at the end of the shortlived seventh season of Smallville (due to the writer’s strike) left several questions about the chracter’s future on the show, as she was left in limbo and not rescued at the start of season eight. Braniac banished Kara to the Phantom Zone, and Vandervoort did not return as a series regular for the following season.

However, in season eight, Vandervoort did a one-episode stint to tie up  her storyline, as Clark and Lois are trapped in the Phantom Zone and escape with Kara in tow. Kara feels out of place on, even though she has family in Clark, and leaves Earth in search of Kandor, a city on Krypton that she heard about inside the Phantom Zone. She believes there are survivors, and goes off to find them.

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Vandervoort will return for what looks to be episode 10×03 of the season entitled, ‘Supergirl’. We don’t know many more details than that currently, but hopefully will have more answers about Kara’s return to Earth after this weekend.

Annette O’Toole – Martha Kent – Last appearance: 9×21 – ‘Hostage’

After Jonathan’s death, Martha assumed the role of senator left empty by her late husband, and moved to Washington DC at the end of season six. Though mentioned through phone calls and other offscreen shenanigans, Martha was not seen again until late last season, when she returned home to the Kent Farm.

We do know that O’Toole has expressed interest in returning for the final season, but this is the first of our speculatory returning hopes for season ten. After all, Martha’s return brought with her a special package for Clark (as seen in the opening of the ninth season finale) and a special guest she brought with her to the farm that intertwines heavily into the mythos of Superman…

Michael McKean – Perry White – Last appearnce: 9×21 – ‘Hostage’

Martha brought with her, her new beaux Perry White, reporter for the Daily Planet, who’s been on assignment since we last saw him in season three. The two ended on shaky ground at the end of the episode, but not before he promised Lois that he would find Martha and try to be with her again.

Perry’s return came at a momentous time for both Lois and Clark, as Perry was the one to get them both rehired at the Daily Planet after they lost their jobs. Perry and Lois worked together on a story involving Checkmate, the Red Queen, the Kandorians, and the mysterious Book of Rao that factored heavily into the season finale. The final season of Smallville would not be complete without at least one return appearance by this fan favorite, taking position as the editor of the Daily Planet, the boss of Kent and Lane. We hope to see him back.

Kristin Kreuk – Lana Lang – Last appearnce: 8×14 – ‘Requiem’

Lana has departed from the show more times than any other character on Smallville, yet always ends back up right where she started on the show. When last seen, Lana and Clark had rekindled their relationship in season eight, but the return of ‘Lex’ thrwarted the couple, when Lana used the promethius suit Lex designed on herself, which essentially became a Kryptonite weapon used against Clark. It was a bittersweet goodbye for the high school sweethearts, but one that most knew was coming due to the fast growing connection between Clark and Lois. Lana left, as the two (literally) couldn’t even be in the same room together.

It’s been heavily speculated that Kreuk would return for the final season. Tom Welling himself has said he’d love to have all the original members back for at least one episode in it’s final run. Specificially he was noted as saying how interesting it would be to see Clark, Lois, and Lana in a room together now. We’ll see if Comic Con holds any truth to her return.

Sam Jones III – Pete Ross – Last appearance: 7×13 – ‘Hero’

Just as Lana has had more departures than any other character, Pete Ross has had the most failed ressurections ever. Pete left Smallville at the end of season three, as the burden of Clark’s secret became too much to handle. At least two known attempts were made to bring Pete back to the show, both in season four. Once, Pete’s Wichita high school football team was supposed to be the opposing team against the Smallville Crows in the episode ‘Jinx’. And again in season four, Pete was reportedly supposed to accompany Chloe to the dance in ‘Spirit’.

Of course we know, whether these attempts were very close to happening or not, Sam Jones III didn’t return until the middle of season seven, when Pete resurfaced as a roadie for the popular singing group One Republic. Pete got a hold of some Kryptonite gum and…please tell me you know the rest of this story so I don’t have to go on?

Sam Jones III has express interest in returning to the final season of the show on Twitter, but that’s about as far as we know as it’s gone. Hopefully we’ll get to see Clark and Pete play basketball one last time together.

Michael Rosenbaum – Lex Luthor – Last apperance: 7×20 ‘Arctic’

Probably the biggest loss to the series since Jonathan Kent, Lex Luthor went missing after a final confrontation with Clark Kent in the Fortress of Solitude at the end of season seven. Rosenbaum left the show, but the presence of Lex has been felt since that time. ‘Lex’ resurfaced in season eight to tear apart Clark and Lana, after spying on them and Oliver Queen for weeks. Oliver destroyed the truck Lex was in to get revenge on him, and ‘Lex’ was presumed dead. Mentions of Lex Luthor, however, have rung throughout season nine; most noticably from Dr. Fate in the ‘Absolute Justice’ special, where he tells Clark that Lex is his greatest enemy. Lex was again seen in the season finale, in a dream Clark was having, as mentioned by Lois who says that Luthor is running for president.

Rosenbaum has remained steadfast in saying that he won’t return to the series. Could this be true, or could it all be a ploy for the fans, that will excite them even more if/when announced that Lex will be returning for one final confrontation with Clark Kent on the series?

Time will tell.

Who would you like to see return for the final season?

Lionel Luthor? Whitney? Alicia? Mxyzptlk?

Sound off!

  1. Jay says:

    Great job on this column, Derek! This is exactly the kind of thing I hoped you and Steve would tackle on SHoE at some point.

    I’d love for Rosenbaum to return naturally, but I also am VERY eagerly anticipating other returns such as Jonathan and Kara’s. Additionally, I am very hopeful (and fairly confident) that Martha and Perry will return this year-I think they did a great job in “Hostage” with both of the characters; there’s nothing quite like having Ma Kent around and I can’t wait to see Perry finally become editor.

    I’d enjoy seeing Pete back so that him and Clark can have a more happy reunion, one where he isn’t as resentful to Clark for having been burdened with his secret (as we saw in “Hero”).

    Brief rant here: I might be in the minority here, but I REALLY want Lana to come back. I’m not a shipper, but I also never hated the character-until her return in Season 8. Don’t get me wrong-I love “Bride”, “Legion”, and “Bulletproof” is one of my favorites of the series. I just question the decision to have her be her own hero and to have her wear the suit-it just doesn’t sit well with me at all. In my opinion, her 5 episode return should have been more about Lana and Clark having closure, not having her become radioactive. I’d love for her to return to really give her character a great send-off, as well as to know that Clark’s happy with Lois.

    In terms of other characters I’d like to see, how about General Lane, anyone? I thought Michael Ironside did a great job, and I think the General’s interaction with Clark would be great (now that Clark and Lois are a couple).

    Justice Leaguers are a must-have. We need to have them all appear at some point-this is the final season, and we’ve had so much buildup and various iterations of this “team”, and with what we got in the Season 9 finale with the whole team communicating at Watchtower, I feel like the logical next step is to show them all working together for the greater good in this last season. Impulse, Cyborg, Aquaman, Canary, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, even the JSA members that have been integrated would all be welcome returns in my book!

    Ok last two for now: I’d love for Aaron Ashmore to make a cameo as Jimmy-I know that by series end, they will likely jump forward in time and show the “real” Jimmy (aka Smallville Jimmy’s little brother), but I think it would be a cool way to honor him one last time and his contribution to the series to have him pop up one last time. Thoughts?

    And lastly-I did mention before how much I love “Bulletproof”…I’d love to see Dan Turpin come back, or even Maggie Sawyer! I love anything that delves into the underbelly of Metropolis…I think both characters are cool, and I feel like they aren’t exactly ones everyone might have thought of!

  2. Woo says:

    For me, if Clark did have a near death experience alia “Void” and “Odyssey” it would be cool to see all the people he has lost to death that really meant something to him: Alicia, Jonathan, Lionel, and Jimmy. Them telling him wasn’t his fault that they died and that they love him and or respect him. Reason this could work is if there was to be a “war to end at all” with Darkseid Clark may lose some confidence with himself because of this never ending battle.

    I really hope that Lana returns and Pete returns not necessarily as a couple. However, and this is just my feeling my fellow Zune, Android, and iPod SHoEligans may disagree with me on this. Pete and Mr. Jones III were given such an awful bring back that I feel we as SHoEligans but more importantly fans need to see that Pete Ross is all right and has joy in his life.

    This even more applies to Lana. Love or despise the character (which by the way I have never) Love or despise the actress Kristen Kruek (which is not humanely possible for me (love you Kristen.) I feel that Lana even though she was given a good send off in “Requiem.” Although and Steve has said this on several eps. of SHoE. Lana is still a broken person and I feel we need to bring her back without meteor rock in her skin and without that power suit. Have her and Clark sit down and discuss the fact that she has joy and happiness in her life now and have Clark say he has the same with Lois. Acknowledge there will always love each other (even though they’ve moved on with their lives) and leave it at that and then she moves to Star City or Paris or something.

    As far as McKean, O’Toole, and Rosenbaum I believe it would be moronic for me to go into detail about why I would want them to return because of course I would want them to return. It would be cool to see Lois & Clark go to bat for Perry when his name is mentioned as possible new Editor and Chief for The Daily Planet.

    Who do my fellow Zune, Android, and iPod SHoEligans want to see return and what do you think of my picks, please don’t be too harsh because I love Lana and Kristen.

  3. Tim says:

    All I need is: -Lex
    -Perry
    -Martha
    -Kara

    I admit Pete deserves a better send off, but I don’t know the deal with Sam Jones’ drug bust. Lionel would be cool, I wrote a fanfic once about how Clark met Jonathan, Lionel, and a WALKING Dr. Swann after Salvation. As far as villains, aside from Lex, I would like Metallo, Zod (have the Phantom Zone Zod possess Callum Blue. I would like James Marsters to return as Brainiac 5. I really don’t care about lesser threats like Toyman, Mxy, and Parasite. Just absolutely NO LANA!!!

  4. Tim says:

    I just thought of something! We know the 200th episode is entitled Homecoming, and though I hoped this would be a look back return to Smallville High episode; Wishful thinking has made me wonder if this is the long awaited return of another Smallville Character, say… Lex? It would bean epic and monumental 200th episode if it happened. Thoughts SHoEligans?

  5. Bridget says:

    My biggest wish has been for Lex to return in the last season, even if it’s in the last episode.

    Then of course I’d like to see Pete and Martha. Pete got a terrible episode when he came back, so I kinda feel they owe us another shot at that. Martha is also a heavy part of the mythos, and I’d feel we were missing something if she wasn’t in an episode or two in the last season.

  6. Woo says:

    @Tim It’s a safe bet to return to the “Crows Nest” (very punny) in ep. 200. Not that I wouldn’t love to see Rosenbaum return he has pretty much CAP typed into all of our Desktops, Laptops, Netbooks, Zune HD, iPod Touches, iPhones, iPads, Blackberry’s, and Android Phones via Twitter and other places that he is not returning. More likely we get a Lex reference like “Luthor found to be alive and at the helm of LuthorCorp once again.” on the front cover of The Metropolis Star and The Daily Planet in 10×22. I have pretty much given up on Rosenbaum returning at all just because we have been theorizing since “Arctic” if and when he is returning. I just think we are never going to get Rosenbaum as Lex doing scenes on Smallville again. We may hear has voice but not actual get him in person.

  7. Tim says:

    I have theorized that as well. To go along with Steve’s monologue idea they can show a bald man from behind looking up with Rosenbaum’s voice over.

  8. Woo says:

    @Tim Yeah, like how difficult would it be for Rosenbaum to use like ProTools and record his voice and send it to Kelly and Brian for the finale. By the way, Steve lines for Lex’s monologue were awesome.

  9. Sarita says:

    People have been speculating that Alicia will return (due to certain spoilers for 10.2). I would at least like to have her mentioned, you knoe, so Clark doesn’t seem like a total douche for forgetting about his WIFE 2 days after she died. I think it would be fun if Lois says something Lois-y about the matter if and when Clark proposes.

    C: “Lois Lane, will you marry me?”
    L: “As long as you don’t elope to Vegas this time.”

    ~~~
    Moving on, I’m ecstatic that Schneidy is returning (nearly crapped my pants when I heard about it; I expected Elvis to come back from the dead before Pa Kent ever did). Lex and Perry are a must and I think Martha returning to live on the farm while Clark heads off to his new apartment in Metropolis in the finale would be nice. Also, I agree w/ Derek that there should be an episode where the old gang returns to SV High (their 5-year reunion is creeping up, isn’t it?). It would bring happy tears to my eyes seeing Clark, Chloe, Lana and Pete walking down the hallway and reminiscing about freaks like Tina Greir, Van McNulty and the first time Clark got his x-ray vision. I can already hear Lois in the background going “PERVERT!”
  10. Sarita says:
    @ Tim
    Lex as the referred to Homecoming? *runs around the room with tears of joy in eyes* GENIUS!
    Maybe Lois runs into him in Africa or wherever she’s going on assignment?
  11. Woo says:
    @Sarita Awesome post! LOL. Especially the Lois lines. The Vegas line cracked me up. I, too would have tears in my eyes to see the four of them walking in the halls of Smallville High. What would be more awesome to Lois’ “PERVERT” is Ka-El going “didn’t x-ray vision for that teddy you wore last night…” and Kal-El just realizes what he said and Chloe just goes “I really didn’t need to hear that.”
    About returning to Smallville High I remember Gough and Miller saying on the commentary for “Pilot” that Smallville High was an actual high school in British Columbia with the exception of “The Torch” I believe that was an actual set, I could be mistaken. My point is, how difficult would it be to go back to the high school?
    In my opinion, the writers for the 200th ep. need to be either Brian and Kelly or Jeph Loeb (doubtful with Loeb’s schedule.)
    And for directors for the 200th ep. either Greg Beeman, Terrence O’Hara, James Marshall, or Jeannot Swarc.
    I picked these writers and directors because they were on the series during the Smallville High years so I think I would be more comfortable and fitting for those writers and directors to do the 200th if they decide to return to Smallville High for the 200th ep. What do my fellow Android, iPod, and Zune SHoEligans think if the 200th ep. were to be set in Smallville High who would you want to write and direct?
  12. Dae says:
    I would love to see the return of some single-episode characters we’ve had, ESPECIALLY Danny Turpin, since he did so good in Bulletproof. Maybe the Wonder Twins? They weren’t half-bad…
    I’m really happy for the return of Laura Vandervoort and Kara to the show, I think to bring her back is kind of important since we’ve kind of tied up the Kandor storyline.
    And bringing in all the JL members is kind of a must for me. All the mentions of them and the little screen time they’ve gotten when they have come in has not been enough for me and it’s disappointing to see them underuse the actors like that.
    I really want to see Michael Rosenbaum return, I think that there might be a small chance since it’s the final season, but I’m not holding my breath. I DON’T want Lana to return, mostly because I think they gave her an excellent sendoff in Requiem and also because I don’t think that bringing her in would do anything for the show.
  13. Sarita says:
    @ Woo
    Thanks, I try.
    You know who we really need back? Maggie Sawyer, haven’t seen her since DESCENT.
    Also, if Jonathan can come back so can my favorite Smallville character of all time. Drum roll please…..SHERIFF ADAMS!!!!!!!!!
    Derek, Steve, you have cinnections on the inside. Can you talk to somebody about that?
  14. Dave says:
    Bringing back Lana is like poking the viewers in the eye with a sharp stick. Reading Superman comics as a kid I can remember how irritating the Lana character was. If Kristin Kreuk has to come back then at least make her a red head like all previous incarnations of the character.
  15. Sarita says:
    @ Dave
    how would that change anything? *extremely confused*
  16. eatittwilight says:
    about damn time
  17. Tim says:
    oh SHoEligans… from the SHoE Twitter “Episode 151 of SHoE for #SDCC will be released today. We will be recording 150 late tonight. Stay tuned for it.” Can I get a woot woot?
  18. Woo says:
    @TIm I know right?
  19. Quinten says:
    I think all cast members from season 1 (excluding Whitney since he’s dead) need to make a return for an episode, but not all together. Seeing Lana and Lex in a scene together would make the season for me.
  20. Luke says:
    I want returns of characters that fit the story, not returns for the sake of nostalgia. So far, I think they’re doing it right. Jonathan and Kara can contribute to Clark’s story.
    The whole idea of anybody putting out false info to “throw us off”? I don’t buy it, this isn’t LeBron and the NBA. Michael said no and I take it at face value. If they (PSW) still wanna try to talk him into it, aim at doing that for the final episode. That’d be all you need. Kristin’s rep said in a statement to Fancast basically, “no chance”. Again, if that’s what her people say, I buy it. IMO, don’t waste time bending over backwards to get people who don’t want to come. They could’ve stayed on the show until Season 10, but they chose to walk away.
    I wouldn’t mind Pete back, would kinda like it. Not being rude but don’t know another way to state it: I don’t know if that drug issue would prove a problem in doing that, as if Sam were to film an episode he’d have to cross US borders to go to Vancouver and I don’t know if that would be a legal problem or not.
    Annette & Michael M. I of course would welcome back and hope to see them return. There’s a number of guests from Season 9 I’d love to have back (BAG, Grier, Bellows, Mankuma, etc.), but as for people gone longer than a season?
    I had a top 3, but Matt M. said on twitter that Michael Ironside’s (General Sam Lane) schedule won’t permit him to guest star, so I guess it’s a top 2. Peyton List as Lucy Lane (not seen since 4.16 Lucy), referenced last year with Lois’s phone call to her in 9.14 Persuasion. Would be nice to get an exploration of Lois and her family to parallel the ones with Clark and his family.
    The second is Dean Cain as Vandal Savage. I know, he was “Curtis Knox” in 7.4 Cure, but he also had a line in that ep insinuating he’s gone by numerous names over the centuries, which basically alluded to him being the mythos character of Vandal Savage. I think he was completely wasted in that episode and would love to see what they could do with him now with the revamped creative team. It was a crime that the star of LOIS and Clark never shared a scene with Lois. I think his character has great potential perhaps as a surprise in the premiere, what with that dealing with Clark in a state of peril.
  21. Stan says:
    It looks like we won’t be getting the General back anytime soon, but I hope that Amanda Waller will pop back up. I like the idea of the world not fully trusting its heroes at this point. It gives Clark a good reason to show his face to the world.
  22. MJ says:
    I have mixed feelings on the subject of Lana coming back. First off, I do not hate the character. In fact, there were many times in the early seasons where I liked her more than I liked Chloe. Yes…you heart that correctly. And I know I’m not alone in that. In the early years, Lana was a truly sweet girl and I loved the “young love” relationship that she had with Clark. In fact, the thing that I mourn MOST about Smallville is that Al and Miles become so obsessed with their soap opera Clana drama that they ruined the chance to truly develop Clark and Lana’s friendship. The potential was there for them to be truly good friends. There was a sweet and genuine way that they cared about each other. Had their relationship been developed properly they could have parted as friends with the knowledge that they just weren’t right for each other as life partners.
    The problem now is that Smallville has painted itself into a corner with Lana by giving her that supersuit.
    There is also the question of how faithful they want to “line up with the mythos.”
    I know that in an ideal world Lana would come back to Smallville and be happy that Clark is happy with Lois.
    But there lies the problem:
    As most comics fans know, the modern mythos dictates that Lana NEVER gets over Clark. Clark will always have a special place in his heart for Lana and he will ALWAYS be there for her as a friend if she needs him. That is very true to character for Clark and I think we can all agree that Clark will always consider Lana a special person in his life and a dear friend. But as an adult, his heart has changed and his heart now belongs to Lois. Clark’s relationship with Lois becomes so powerful that the love that he felt for Lana will seem juvenile in comparison. This is the man who will spend 1000 years with Diana fighting a war and still remain faithful to his wife because he loves her that much.
    However, in the mythos, Lana does not get over Clark. She still pines for him, still longs for him and still feels sadness that he ultimately chose Lois over her. She even named her first born child after him. (Something that I’ve heard many people in DC comics argue was a huge insult towards Lois to name her child after HER husband. An honor that should have been Lois’s if she and Clark were ever able to conceive a child.) Her marriage to Pete never seems to compare to the longing that she feels for Clark. She NEVER gets over him. And in recent year, she has shown signs of manipulative behavior that has been pretty underhanded.
    But Clark? He moves on from Lana in a way that she never moves on from him. He’s completely and utterly devoted to his wife.
    So how does Smallville handle this? Do they just ignore this part of the mythos and pretend that Lana is fine and dandy with Clois? Or do they remain true to the story and show the audience that Lana will always love Clark in a way that he truly won’t love her. He will move on and she will stay in love with him.
    It’s a sticky situation. Personally, I think the days when Clark and Lana could just part happy go lucky as friends have passed. If Lana were to come back now, I can’t honestly believe that she would just smile at Clark with Lois and wish them the best. She’d be heartbroken. THAT would be the natural emotion and resolution to the story. But I imagine that the producers don’t want to do that because they don’t want to end the story on a sad note for Lana.
    So I’m torn as to whether I want to see her back. On the one hand, I thought the way they ended her arc on the show was atrocious. And yes, I know what Steve and Derek think about it and I totally respect their opinion. But I disagree. Power and Requiem basically cut Clark off at the knees. It made him look weak and indecesive and incapable of making strong decisions for his life. And I think Lana having that supersuit is freaking ridiculous. On the other hand, I just can’t see them bringing Lana back only to break her heart. And a “Sweet” ending just doesn’t seem to make sense at this point. So who knows? I guess we’ll see what happens.
  23. Woo says:
    @MJ This is an excerpt from the Ep. 150 post, I just wanted to clear that up if there was any confusion…
    For the tenth season I would like to see Lana again for two reasons some I have already voiced on another post. Hummerich brought up a good story point I would like to see Lana and Lois have scenes together especially if Lois knows about Clark’s alien origins and all his secrets. I would just love to see the slight fear of Lois towards Lana in the sense of “Oh, crap my man’s first love is back, how do I handle this?” And how awkward scenes of Lana and Lois would be. Reason being as we all know Lois awkward= funny and good times. And some dramatic moments too. Not that Lois thinks Clark will leave her and get back together with Lana because Lois knows in Clark’s eyes she is is the one for him. But I’d love for Lana to say something to the effect of “Clark loves me and I will always love him… But he is IN LOVE with you Lois and I knew it the first time I saw you two together when I got back from Paris.” Remember in 4×02 Lana did notice something there between Lois & Clark. But really I want Clana to finally end with the two of them happy not you know crying and forced to be apart because I loved Clana and those two characters together they have been through hell and back and both deserve to be happy.
    I totally agree with you even though “Requiem” had a powerful ending scene on the other hand it was not the way those two should have ended things. I realize that the producers always want to leave the “writing door” open for characters to return but some stories need to end.
    One of the things I didn’t enjoy Miles and Al doing was constantly bringing Lana back because this goes back to what you were saying about “DC Mythos” if Lana had left in the third season and came back in the tenth season. Would totally make more sense. Heck, if Lana left in the seventh season and we never got the arc in the eighth season and came back in the tenth season totally all right with that. I just want to see Lana and Clark both happy with their lives and end their version of “Dawson and Joey.”
  24. Woo says:
    @Luke Totally agree with you. Now don’t get me wrong Android, Zune, and iPod SHoEligans I want Michael Rosenbaum to return just as much as anyone, however, I remember listening to the podcast for “Apocalypse” in the seventh season on my 80 GB Black Zune back in the day when Derek and Steve announced Rosenbaum didn’t re-sign he wasn’t returning, he was done. I recall Derek speculating on that podcast that Rosenbaum might do an arc in the eighth season and Derek paraphrased Rosenbaum and he basically said “No, if I came back then I would have no hair for three months.” And really every interview we have read and or “the SHoE braintrust” has brought to us since he left for the past two years that Michael Rosenbaum has said multiple times “No, not interested or No, not right now or No I have other projects I am working on.” So, I think he has made himself clear…
  25. Rich says:
    iam so happy Kara is returning ik it is only for one episode but hopefully she can return for a few more down the road i think Clark needs Kara in his life shes the only true family he has ik you fans don”t like kara which i never understood. but to me shes very important to Clark Kent she is all he has from home without her he is truly alone in the universe. i think if Michael dose return as Lex it will be when hes ready and if not it is his choice so fans should accept his wishes and move on. now with Laura she wants to return but it was the sv writers and producers who are like no thats ok. and now shes on V and they want Kara back now its harder man SV always has actor problems. iam so happy Jonathan and Kara are returning.
  26. MJ says:
    @Woo…..there was no confusuion on my part. I was simply stating howI felt. I wasn’t responding to anyone nor did I misinterpret anything that you said.
    Your feelings about Clana are valid as they are yours. As I’ve said in my previous post, I don’t hate Lana. But I stand by my opinion that Clana was unhealthy and made both characters miserable. It was lovely in the very early seasons but I don’t consider it this “beautiful” relationship that some shippers do. I find it shallow and lacking it any kind of maturity or emotional depth. The relationship made Clark, our hero, look weak and selfish. Lana, for her part, became an extremely maniuplative and power-hungry person. I just think this whole “happy ending” scenerio is emotionally shallow at this point. The show has given me plenty of reasons now to believe that CLARK would be able to be happy for her and wish her well because HE has moved on to Lois. The show has SHOWN me that he has moved on and is happier with Lois than he ever was with Lana. But at this point, the show hasn’t done anything to show me that Smallville’s Lana is any different from Mythos Lana. I was merely pointing out the irony that everyone seems to want to see Lana and Clark end on a “happy” note but the reality is that THAT is not true to the mythos. The mythos dictates that Clark moves on to Lois and never looks back but that Lana doesn’t get over him. The point of my post was simply to remind people that wishing Lana and Clark this “happy” reunion where she’s so thrilled for his new relationship is not being true to the Superman canon.
    I like Kristin Kreuk very much and I truly loved Lana as an individual character back in the early seasons. I liked her more than Chloe. But at this point, I could take or leave her on the show. If these writers can manage to brnig her back without some unhealthy level of angst and can’t avoid catering to insane shippers and keep CLARK’s well being and story in mind (something they failed miserably to do in Power and Requiem) then I’m all for seeing her back. If they can’t….then I’m good with never seeing her again.
    @MJ See, if the writers did what you suggested that is the only reason I would want them to bring Lana back as well. I also do agree with you, Lana and Clark were terrible more than good especially in the sixth season. I think that season harm Kal-El more than helped him.
    Lana would be coming back as an old friend, we saw the episode where Clark got past her (when he took her picture out of his wallet and stuck it in the scrapbook. Since she’s been in Star City (usually depicted as San Francisco) I think it would be cool if she came back with her new superhero boyfriend from a neighboring town (neighboring in super hero terms at least), Coast City (usually depicted as Los Angeles).
    “Clark, I would like you to meet my boyfriend, this is Hal.”
    Clark is over Lois.
    If the show remains true to Superman canon, Lana will NEVER fully get over Clark. It doesn’t matter who she marries or who she dates she will pine for him.
    Clark will clearly choose Lois and never look back accept in friendship.
    That’s how the story is supposed to end.
    Sorry typed too quickly. Obviously meant to say Clark is over Lana.
    All these “LL” names make it crazy!
