“Salvation” – The Season Finale Airs Tonight!

IT’S CLARK VS ZOD IN THE SEASON FINALE – Zod unleashes his army upon the world, forcing Chloe to call in reinforcements from old friends. Zod tells Lois he is The Blur and asks her to steal the Book of Rao from Clark. Torn between Clark and The Blur, Lois asks Clark to come clean with her about everything but he refuses. Chloe and Oliver attempt to reconnect Watchtower’s satellite system in order to fight the Kandorians but to Chloe’s horror, Oliver gets caught on site and disappears. Tess attempts to stop Zod but he leaves her clinging to life. Clark and Zod battle for control of Earth.
It all comes down to this! The ninth season finale of Smallville and a long break ahead of us before we get into the tenth and potentially final season of the series.
Before we get to ‘Salvation’, check out the last couple of episodes of SHoE to catch you up on what’s going on with our favorite heroes. And, in the meantime, when the episode is over come back here and let us know what you thought, or email us so we can read your thoughts on the air! We’ll be back with the 150th episode of Starkville’s House of El soon!

@Andrew: This is the best explanation for the Blue K/BoR situation that I’ve seen.
From Supermanhomepage.com: //The dagger not only made the fight more personal but it actually made a lot of sense story wise which also impressed me. It worked as a valid reason why Clark and Zod didn’t get zapped away with the rest of the Clones. Was it convenient? Maybe but when you remember Jor-El was concerned enough about letting Kyptonian’s loose on Earth with powers that he sabotaged the cloning orb with Blue-K in the first place you start to see the bigger picture. Jor-El’s other “failsafe” plan would only be used if the Clones got powers so having the teleporter lock on the powers is a reasonable way that the machine would tell Kryptonians from Human. It makes sense that Blue-K would thwart that plan. Or maybe I should say it makes a lot of sense to this nerd who pays way too much attention to technobabble at times.//–Doug
I hope that helps.
@Natasha
Yeah, that helped a lot. That’s what I figured was going on. I just wanted to see what others were thinking about it.
Hey guys, I just read this:
*SPOILER ALERT!*
“Tom Welling Confirms Season Ten Will Be The Show’s Last”
http://www.hollywoodlife.com/2010/05/19/exclusive-bye-bye-smallville-%E2%80%94-tom-welling-confirms-season-ten-will-be-its-last/
(well, I think deep down, we all knew it – but it’s still bittersweet to have a confirmation)
*END of SPOILER*
Since the orb still holds the DNA, could it make more clones? Who has the orb now, was it destroyed after the kandorians came? how come the kandorians came out for Tess, but not Lex or Virgil Swann, the latter of whom was far more honorable than Tess. AND if Jor-El built the orb to both clone Zod’s army and control the traveler, why did it destroy the fortress instead of Zod’s army coming from the orb and attacking Lex and Clark, did Zod somehow destroy it from inside the orb? or did Jor-El recognize it was Zod and try to destroy it? So many questions, for the love of Rao, what is the purpose of the Omegahedron? Was Zod’s army supposed to destroy the Traveler, if so, where was Daddy Zod last season with Davis? And I have an explanation for the Faora not having children and then pregnant clone thing
1. Something caused her infertility later in life, such as being tortured by an opposing army
OR
2. Maybe after Zod lost his first son, he went paranoid and created Bloomsday as a “son” that could never truly be killed, as a way to ensure he never again had to endure that pain. After rewatching Kandor and seeing his reaction to the baby dying in Sacrifice, this seems to be the most logical theory.
Season 10 is it, sadness, but like Joanna said, we knew it was coming. I hope the final episode is called “Superman” and maybe after he goes full on Supes we could get a “Metropolis” TV movie of him as Superman, doing Superman things. If Rosenbaum won’t be back in season 10 as a regular (still hoping for a guest spot) maybe he would be willing do one little last project. If not, I will break into his house, shave his head while he is sleeping, and force him to act at gunpoint, like Geoff Johns forcing Brian and Kelly to write in Apokolips. BTW, idk if Steve and Derek talked to Geoff yet, but I heard a rumor next year in all the Apokolips craziness, he has expressed interest in returning to smallville to pen an episode featuring the New Gods, Orion and Mr. Miracle. If you guys haven’t talked to him yet, can you ask if this is true when you do the interview? OOH! Maybe Geoff is the guest Derek has for SHoE 150. Or maybe Craig from kryptonsite for the trivia-off. Or maybe Erica Durance or Allison Mack (I can dream, right?) Calling it now, the guest is Edna, making her podcasting cohost debut.
As sad as I am to know Smallville is ending, I’m proud of Tom for being honest with the fans. I think this is a very wise move for Smallville. Approaching this season as the last from the getgo will ensure that the show can truly explore Clark’s journey next year to the fulllest and give us the final season that the show deserves.
I’m proud to hear the news from Tom himself. I love that he’s just honest and not trying to play head games. He was asked a question and he answered it honestly. Isn’t that why we love the guy? He’s not a politician.
As a fan, I have NEVER lost sight of the fact that Tom Welling is the freaking star of this show.
He is the HEART of the show. He is the ONLY true LEGEND from this show. (Yes, I said it. Welling is the one who is LEGENDARY.) He is the glue that holds this damn show together. He is the most important person on the show. And I say that as a huge fan of Clark and Lois and as a huge huge fan of their relationship and of Erica Durance.
Too many fans of this show have lost sight of what this show is supposed to be about. It’s about Clark. His journey. His relationships: His family, his friendships and his romantic relationships. I really hope everyone can join together for Season 10 and remember WHO the star of this show is.
It was never Michael Rosenbaum. It was never Allison Mack. It was never Kristen Kreuk and as much as I ADORE her and as much as I think that the Clois relationship is one of the BEST parts of the show and the best relationship ever on the show…it’s not Erica Durance. The star is Tom Welling. And I’m proud to hear the news from him as a long time fan.
@ MJ…AMEN to this entire post. There is nothing I don’t agree with. I’m so in love with Smallville, but when someone on LJ posted this, I said “YES!!!” Not because I won’t go into withdrawals when the show is over, but because now they have no choice but to pull out all the stops for Season 10. They have to focus the majority of the episodes on Clark because now its crunch time. In the past two seasons (especially in S9) he has made so many long strides that he’s basically Superman in all but name now. Let’s top the phenomenal season that S9 was and go out with a fricken BANG! Remember whose journey we’ve been watching for these past 9-10 years and be as epic as we have evidence that you can be, Show!
I’m not going to pretend that today’s news didn’t move me – I’m a little bit sad right now…
I’ve been watching Smallville since the beginning (it will be 10 years of my life – wow!) and now when I know that the show ends I just feel a little bit empty, which is a weird feeling to be honest…
As I wrote before, I knew it was coming, this is a story about Clark Kent’s journey to become Superman, and not about Superman in his prime time – that was the central idea of Smallville, and I think that many people simply forgot about it.
I’ve always hoped that Smallville would end with a BANG! And hopefully season 10 will be the BEST season of Smallville…
I think I’ll watch some season 1 episodes in order to cheer myself up – lol!
Let’s continue Season1 rewatch…
Oh, and MJ – I totally agree with what you wrote about Tom!
It’s such a bittersweet bit of news to here, but at the same time, it’s the kind of news that has me even more pumped and anxious for Season 10 because now that there is a definite ending in our sights (and Salvation was just …*squeezes*), I know we can’t expect anything less than Epic. Epically epic.
@Joanna, I’m watching Disc 2 when I get home from work. I’m holding discussions at my LJ and you’re more than welcome to join in. (You’re all welcome to join in). Click on my name.
I’ve been watching Smallville since the beginning as well. When the show started I was 19 years old and a sophomore in college. I started watching it in dorm room with my roommates. I was the only true Superman fan watching the show. My roommates were watching it because they thought Welling was hot. haha.
Now, I’m a happily married woman. I graduated from college and law school while watching Smallville. I literally feel like I grew up with this show and I’m sure others can say the same.
It IS emotional. Many of us really changed and matured along with Clark.
I’m happy to hear for sure, that Smallville will end this next season. Don’t misunderstand me, I love the series, the cast, and it’s writers. But I can remember back when I first began listening to SHoE on my Black 80GB Microsoft Zune that Season Seven was originally supposed to be the end of Smallville then the writer’s strike happened. Then, during the eighth season and the ninth season we thought those seasons could be the last. At least, now we know for sure that this is it. Also, gives Steve and Derek a full season what they want to do for the last ep. of Starkville House of El.
I too am happy to hear a definitive on whether or not season 10 is the last season or not…However, I was also sad as well when I read that TW had said season 10 of Smallville will be the last. Watching Smallville has taken up the last 9 years of my life, 10 after season 10, and the show has become a part of my life, as sad as that might sound. I’ve always set my weekly schedule around new episodes of Smallville and when it goes off the air, well, it will be a major change. On the positive side, having already known that this will be the final season would, hopefully, allow Kelly and Brian to not hold anything back for another season or two and just go all out to make it THE best season of the series. This was gonna be a long summer break till season 10 starts up in September but, now, with both feelings of happiness and dread of knowing this is the final season, the hiatus will fly by for me. Unfortunately, the final season will fly by twice as fast.
What will Derek and Steve do when Smallville goes off the air? Will they keep doing SHOE? Hope so…
Anyone remember that 1 hour special tribute NBC did right before the final episode of Friends? I really enjoyed that. Looking back at each character, the highs, the lows, the good, the bad. Interview by each cast members, creators, producers, etc..
The reason I bring that up is because I would love to see Kelly and Brian do something similar with Smallville. Have a 1 hour special event right before the series finale looking back the last 10 years of Smallville with interviews and personal thoughts from each cast members, past and present. It could be the week before the series finale but it would be great if it was back to back with the finale…Having it as a lead in for what would be, in my opinion, the MOST EPIC series finale in television history.
@TJ
I totally agree. That would be an amazing thing to do. The show deserves something like that.
Also, I remember Steve and Derek saying sometime ago that even when the show ended SHoE would not. So, lets enjoy the final chapter in Clark Kent’s journey to Superman and laugh as the amazingly funny tangents of Steve and Derek accompany us there.
To Tom Welling, and to Smallville, hear hear! Maybe Steve and Derek will go back and cover Pilot-Vessel. I know this probably won’t happen, but when Smallville dies, don’t let SHoE die with it!
Since the upcoming season 10 of Smallville is it’s last, hopefully The CW will do little more on the promotions front over the course of the season. The show never got the respect that it deserved from the network in my opinion. I think idiotic shows like Gossip Girls got twice the amount than Smallville. Let’s see, over or under on Dawn Ostroff remaining her position after Smallville ends…I’m going with 2 years. :)
I’m not going to lie, I was very sadden to read the news that Season 10 was going to be SV’s last year however I was not shocked nor surprised. It’s just an end of an era but at least they are being given the time to give the proper and respectful closure to this story and this character of Clark Kent that we have watched grow up over the past ten years and to finally become the greatest superhero of all time. We won’t have to sit on pins and needles and wonder if they’re going to get word at the last minute and then the writers would have to scramble to tie everything up with only 10 episodes left and have to say to heck with the characters and the story because this is the end and we need to finish it. SV is going out on their terms not on the whims of a network exec.
I do hope that the CW will give this show the proper respect in promoting the final year. It has been this network’s backbone and has not weakened or crumbled under the weight of carrying other weaker shows.
All I can say is congratulations SV for everything, for making us laugh, cry, rip our hair out, scream, smile, love, shout Yesssss or Noooo but most of all for entertaining us.
And thank you SHoE for providing such a wonderful place where us SV fans can hang out, discuss and just have grand old time.
When Smallville was on the WB, it was their flagship show with tons of promotion, some viral, (smallville.net anyone?) and the great trailers. Over the past for years CW gave Smallville budget cuts the first year they once UPN got their grubby hands on it (which makes s6 worse than s4) When Smallville premiered on October 16, 2001 their was so much promotion and so much anticipation, if you look on wiki with the season ratings, the ratings have gone down considerably. Remember when Smallville had over 4 million viewers? I can’t believe that Tempest had better ratings then the awesomeness of Savior. I mentioned Smallville to my sister, she didn’t know it was still on TV! I hope and pray that Smallville goes out with the bang it deserves. Really, I used to flip through the WB and watch everything from the Bruce Timm Cartoons to 7th Heaven. Now that Smallville is ending, and unless they can milk another season out of Supernatural, I will never watch CW again. Also, the WB was just more, I don’t know the word to describe it, but it was more homey. Honestly. I agree with Steve that WB got the short end of the stick. Think about it, we would have gotten Mercy Reef and Lord knows how many more hero shows, we could have even got a Justice League spinoff! I really miss the WB now, they gave Smallville the respect it deserves.
@MJ Word on what you wrote about Tom. He is the star of the show. He IS the show and without him, Smallville would not be Smallville. I too am glad that Tom did not play the Hollywood game and be coy. He was Tom being Tom – being honest, straight forward. Just like when he spilled the beans about the Lexana baby before the season even started ;).
I bet you Ausiello is steaming mad right now because he couldn’t play one of his word games or blind item games and that Tom released the news via some non-mainstream entertainment news source.
I agree Tim, the CW just is not the same as the WB. Not too long ago I was going through old VCR tapes and came across all the wonderful promos that the WB did for all their shows but also for SV. I found a Covenant trailer, a season 4 trailer that featured Crusade, Gone and Facade, the Run trailer and a bunch others and they were good. Once SV (and SPN) ends, I won’t be watching the CW. I don’t watch any other shows because no offense to those who watch GG, 90210 et all, I feel like I loose brain cells if I watch them.
As a fan who came to this series very late, I am glad to see the way it has turned out. The story of Smallville is about Clark, but I appreciate how the writers have weaved so many terrific aspects into the show to keep Clark and us guessing! I thought the season finale was incredible, and it was great to see the Justice Society cameos – that scene at the beginning when Clark opens mom’s ‘gift’ was awesome!
While I hope CW will consider a JS spinoff, I am really looking forward to Season 10. We need a few episodes of Supes flying around – I would be really disappointed just to see him fly away in the series finale.
I agree with Kimmie’s comment about SHoE – thanks so much and keep up the great work!
Just watched it finally and I thought it was pretty good. Loved the dream sequence and of course that martha left him the suit. Im surprised they were able to show the S in the red and yellow. that was awesome. Favorite scenes were Tess giving it to Zod, Clark finally realizing who he is and embracing it, and of course the showdown between clark and zod. I almost think Clark let the dagger go into him knowing that zod would then ascend to wherever they went. Sacrificed himself to get rid of zod. And the way Clark was falling, it was a very artistic position and I bet it was because Beeman was directing. They got me again with that to be continued, been watching since season 1 and still got me. Ending it with him falling to his death. Itd be awesome if Kara all of a sudden showed up and caught him, she can fly after all. Or martian manhunter is a possibility as well
I would love to see Hartley, get a Green Arrow spin-off or a JLA spin-off. He is a great actor that can carry a whole series. I would love it, if Derek and Steve would do a podcast about that series, if it came to be. But I have mentioned this several times. As far as SHoE ending, after the tenth season. I will listen to Geek Out Loud or Round 3 or Blending in (I wanted to get into Human Target anyway.) I feel like these guys have become my friends and I will want to hear these guys just because their sense of humor brightens my day. I really think SHoE should go out just like SkyNext did with Sarah Connor, but that’s my opinion.
Allison Mack won’t be a regular for season 10, but will be in a limited number of episodes. To be honest, I prefer Erica Durance as Lois, but I guess it is still sad. At least she’s coming back for a few in the final season.
I’ve made it no secret this year that I’ve struggled with Chloe on the show. Honestly, for the last 9 years, Chloe was never really a favorite of mine. I just didn’t relate to her at all. It wasn’t that I didn’t like her per se….but I have always been able to take her or leave her. That being said, I have always liked Allison and always felt she was lovely and classy.
Allison has shown great devotion towards the show and I respect her for all of the time she has put in to being a part of the Smallville legacy. She truly does CARE about the show. I never get the sense that she thinks she’s too good for it and I really really appreciate that. Honestly, she doesn’t have to come back AT ALL next year….but she’s doing it because she appears to just really care about the character and the show. Good for her.
I know there are going to be some rabid fans who are angry about this and take it out in nasty ways. I’ve come to expect nothing less from some of these people. To be quite frank, I was unable to care at all about that whole “Legendary” fan appreciation project that those few fans made for Allison—not because I don’t like Allison. (Because I do.) But because that commercial was made by some of the very same fans who have spent years cursing on blogs, dropping the F bomb and saying extremely personal and nasty things about Erica Durance. That’s the problem with that kind of behavior in the age of the internet—-it always follows you. If you show your true colors it can be impossible to recover from that type of trash. It’s a great life lesson. If you want people to take you seriously then you have to act with class. If you act like trash—then don’t expect people to take you seriously.
This show will go on without Allison. Just as it went on without Lex and Lana and Jonathan etc. The star of this show has always been Clark Kent. He is the heart, the soul and the glue that holds this show together. Supporting characters come and go—-but Clark is the star and hero of this show. AS we approach the 10th and final season, I’m ready to see HIS journey given full attention next season.
I wish Allison the very best and thank her for her loyalty to the show.
@MJ I couldn’t have said it better myself, while I appreciate all the work Allison Mack has put into this show, maybe this final season will have the classic Superman feel. Lois & Clark, maybe some more Perry White, bring back Metallo, Toyman, Brainiac (James Marsters) and take the extra $ to give to Rosenbaum to coax him into returning for maybe 4 or 5 episodes at the end, since he turned down the 13 episode offer. Oliver has made himself more than the Bruce Wayne stand in from season 6, but has really came into his own (JLA spinoff maybe? with some guest appearances by Tom Welling?) Tess (if she returns, still firm believer in Granny Goodness heals with Mother Box and recruits her into Female Furies theory) would have a lot on her plate. Chloe was never supposed to last, she was actually GOING to die at the end of season 3 until they lost Sam Jones, but the character has remained because of Allison’s great performance. You can see Chloe was on the backburner during seasons 6-7 so they gave her the meteor freak powers, and when Chloe was “arrested” at the end of season 7, they threw Allison a bone to get her to stay. One thing I didn’t like about season 8 was it was how it was more Chloe centric than Clark centric, and now that Chloe will have fewer appearances, we can get more Clark and Lois classic Superman sprinkled with nostalgic Smallville when Chloe appears. The show is not about Chloe (GFY TV Without Pity, superman homepage posted a while back that freakish tribute commercial, go look for it) It was never about Lex, the show is about Clark’s journey to becoming the world’s greatest hero, and although there are many people who help him along his journey, the show is a show focused on Clark.
It’s cool to see people showing respect for Allison Mack but it sucks that people really don’t care the character will be leaving.Tom and Allison are great together and I think she will be missed.
@Tim, I agree with you. I just want to make it clear that I have no issue with fans showing their appreciation for Allison Mack.
My problems with that “commercial” have nothing to do with Allison. I think she is lovely and worthy of praise and support. But then again, I think the ENTIRE cast is worthy of our praise and support with Tom Welling at the head of that list. I have no problem at all with fans showing cast members how much they love them. These actors work hard and they DO deserve it. My issue is more with the methods used.
I will admit that it frustrated me as a fan to see so much money raised for a rather self-indulgent commercial when there are so many charities (Autism Speaks being one of them) that are in desperate need of donations. As someone who volunteers quite a bit in my own church and local community, it DOES upset me and frustrate me to see thousands of dollars spent on something that was….let’s face it….self-indulgent rather than given to a very worthy charity that could have really really used that money. Now, I respect that not everyone will agree with me. The truth is that people are free to spend their money however they see fit. But that is my personal opinion on the subject. I think the money would have meant MORE if it went to a need organization in Allison’s name.
My issue though comes more with the fact that the women behind the project have openly outed themselves several times over the years through personal blogs and LJ accounts where they have engaged in very very disturbing and degrading personal attacks towards Erica Durance, Tom Welling, the producers, writerse you name it. But mainly Erica Durance. Even the essay written for the LA times included a personal dig at Erica. Not cool. Not cool at all. You know, I have my own “fancy degree.” I graduated from college and from law school. So I don’t need any other fans of this show trying to tell me what it means to be a “professional career-driven woman.” The truth is that a truly career minded woman knows that most companies have clauses in their code of conduct that include personal behavior outside of the office and on the internet and social networking sites. Botton line: A person can and will be TERMINATED from a job for dropping curse words on a personal blog the way some of these women have done over the years. That’s a sure fire way to lose your job. That’s the irony in this whole thing for me. That the entire purpose of this “legendary” project was to serve as an “inspiration” for career-minded women and yet many of the women involved have acted in ways that are not only unethical but also completely unprofessional. I would suggest that the ladies involved take a long hard look at themselves and re-evaluate what it truly means to be “professional.”
Lastly, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with Lois Lane on Smallville wearing sexy outfits from time to time. The truth is that a woman CAN absolutely be sexy and beautiful and be comfortable in her own skin and still be a strong, confidant woman of worth. The two things are NOT mutually exclusive and for anyone to act otherwise shows a clear misunderstanding of what the women’s movement was actually about. I have an advanced degree and I have absolutely no problem with a woman being comfortable enough in her own skin to be sexy and beautiful and confidant. I find Lois Lane on Smallville to be extremely inspiring. Just as I find Martha to be inspiring and yes, I can absolutely appreciate Chloe as well. But then again, I recognize that there is no need to degrade one woman to bring another one up.
BUT—all that being said—make no mistake that I do like Allison Mack very very much. I feel badly that she has been pulled into such a negative tailspin over the past few years and that she has to be associated with all of this crap. She’s an innocent here. Just like Erica Durance is innocent. Allison is a lovely person and I wish her nothing but success in the future.
@Scott….why does it suck? The beauty of entertainment is that everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some fans like Chloe and will be sad to see her go. Some fans don’t like Chloe and won’t be sad to see her go though they like and respect Allison. There’s nothing wrong with either opinion. Both are valid.
There were fans who were thrilled to see Lana leave the show a few years ago and there were fans who were sad. It didnt change the fact that Kristen Kreuk is a lovely person and that most fans wished her well. That’s what really matters in all of this. Being able to seperate the CHARACTER that someone plays from the actress.
I think most people on here just feel as though in the show’s final season the story needs to service Clark first and foremost.
I agree people have the right to their own opinion. As a fan of Allison, I just hoped her character would be remembered as important to the show. Again I agree people have the rights to their own opinion but this is just my personal biased.
@Scott, who said she wouldn’t be “remembered as important to the show?” She’s been on the show for 9 seasons. This past season marked her 3rd best screentime to date for the past 9 years. I’m sure the show will give her a beautiful sendoff that will honor her legacy on the show.
I haven’t seen anyone think that she’s not important to the show. She is. Every member of the supporting cast is very important to the show depending on who you ask. Lex, Lana, Chloe, Lois—they all have their huge supporters and are all important in different ways. But no one is more important than Clark.
Chloe will not be a reg during season 10. They shoulda killed her off then
@MJ Exactly what you said, I can appreciate people liking Chloe like I like Lois, but you don’t see me bashing Allison Mack like those crazies from TV without pity attack Erica Durance. If you don’t like the way a character is written, fine, but when you launch personal attacks on an actor, it goes to far. I’ve had to defend Erica before when people dug up old Howard Stern interviews and called her a nudist/slutty whore. I met Erica @ Comic Con once (I think it was for season 7) and she was really awesome! She gave me a high five as she signed an autograph! If you hate an actor because you can’t separate her from the character, then in the words of Steve “That is dumb. You are dumb. I am through.” And stop dogging on a nice woman who is just doing her job. Although you may not like the character, don’t bash the actual person. Although I wasn’t a big Chloe fan this season, Allison Mack did a great performance. All in all, Television Without Pity:GFY
BTW Howard never called Erica a slutty whore.
@Lois, I think Tim meant that the “fans” called Erica those names.
But let’s talk about the positive. So, 10 is the last season and the PTB have already stretched the Flights/Tights rule to it’s breaking point. Now, I don’t necessarily have to see the suit, but I think they will probably toy more with the flight thing (unless they want an uprising because people like my boyfriend–God bless him–keep bringing it up as if it’s a deal breaker if Clark doesn’t fly soon). I would love to see Clark fly in the premiere or 200th episode, but it’s never been my deal-breaker on whether or not I enjoy an episode/season. Season 9 has been phenomenal even though everyone BUT Clark has flown. But I think it would be smart of them to introduce flight sooner in the season rather than later
Lois knows and if the PTB knows what’s best for them, they are going to keep it that way. If this weren’t the last season, I would question if they would KEEP her in the know, but knowing this is the last, she’s going to remain knowledgable of the secret. Oh, she’s GOING to remain knowledgable of the secret, darnit.
I would love for MM to be more semi-regular, if not in the credits. I think that most people love his character not just because he’s been awesome, but because his purpose from the first time they introduced him in S6 was to push Clark’s story forward. Even in Bulletproof, where he was the victim of crooked cops, the story served to push Clark’s story, make him be the hero and the inspiration.
Other than the Apokalips arc, what do you guys wanna see happen?
From Matt Mitovich: As for the women in the Man of Steel’s life, Welling said that first of all, he hopes that Lois learning Clark’s secret in the Season 9 finale “sticks,” quipping, “I hope she doesn’t, like, bump her head and forget. That’d be too easy.”
I love Tom. If I didn’t love him already, I definitely love him for this. Since he’s now a full producer, I think we can count on Lois knowing the secret for good.
I think also Allison’s salary decrease could get us Perry White and Emil Hamilton as regulars, and maybe Micheal will follow her example. Kryptonsite said now that Tom is full on exectutive producer he wants to bring back Perry White, Martha Kent, Lana (NO!) Lex, and Jonathan Kent(Yay, but WTF? Flashbacks) To quote Media Junkyard is this FTW or WTF? I will stand by the former.
Tom wants lex back!

I’m sad that its the last season but it had to come sometime. And yeah I am one of the Chloe fans who is disappointed that she won’t be in the season full time. But I also hope that she gets a decent sendoff, I’m sure she will. :) Totally wish AM all the best for her future and will look to follow her.
The rabid fans honestly give the reasonable ones, hopefully like me, a bad name. Do I want Chloe to have a happy ending I’d love it. I’m a sucker for it. With Oliver I hope :P Why because I am the sites Chlollie fan. :D
But anyhoo I hope Lois doesn’t forget because the look on her face when she realised was just the best.
I have no hate for any of the cast sure I have my favourites but if everyone liked the same thing like would be dull. Oooo small ramble.
@Natasha, I would love to see his first flight in the premiere. Actually it would be cool if they did something like the Power of the Sun scene from SR. That was a beautiful scene from the movie and I do love the visuals that SV has done so far with Clark healing by the power of the sun (i.e. Bizarro & Nemesis) and with him stabbed with the blueK dagger, I could see how it would come into play. But I could also see them holding off till the 200th episode. Fortunately that is episode 4 of Season 10.
Loved Tom’s comment about Lois remaining in the know and her not losing the memory by being bonked on the head. I agree that if it wasn’t the last season, then yeah probably would pull back the reveal but with it being the final season and them being married and Lois covering for him in 2013 well, they need to get kicking.
@Sara, I believe Chloe will have a happy ending. If you listened to the guys’ Upgrade/Charade podcast, Damian had told them that when he interviewed BP, he asked BP if Chloe was going to have a happy ending and BP answered not yet in that I believe he meant not by the end of Season 9 but for her overall arc, yes Chloe will have a happy ending.
It will be interesting to see who will be returning from the old cast and what villains will be reappearing i.e. Ray Sachs, Bruno Manheim, Metallo, Toyman as well as what heroes i.e. Black Canary, J’onn J’onnz, Carter Hall, Flash, Cyborg.
@MJ Actually about 3 months ago a lot of Allison/Chloe fans donated over $3,000 to the Christopher Reeve Foundation in Allison Mack’s name. The commercial, as well as a gift basket/scrapbook sent to Allison, was to thank her for 9 years on the show. If fans of other actors/characters want to do a commercial to thank their favorite(s), more power to them.
All right, I need to say something. Whether it has been confirmed or not that Allison won’t be in the opening credits in the tenth season… I’m assuming that Allison will be like Erica in the fourth season, more or less. In my opinion, nearly every ep. has to have now that the tenth season will be it has to have callbacks on what the series was and what will entail after the series ends. I’d love to see Pete and Lana in the 200th ep. I don’t believe they need to be in the finale at all and quite honestly. Ollie doesn’t need to be in the finale much other than setting up a possible spin-off for his character. The finale needs to be about Clark becoming “The Man of Tomorrow.” And that’s it in my opinion.
Reason being I’m much like Derek in the sense, the reason I bought the Home Video of the seasons and got into the series was I wanted to see Clark’s journey from 9th grade awkward teenager to “The Man of Tomorrow” and knowing about mythology other than I was worried how things were going to be portrayed. I knew Lana and Clark were never going to work. I was intrigued how Chloe and Clark were going to go because she wasn’t in the canon before this. But at the end of the day, I knew that Lois & Clark was going to work.
To be clear, I’m not bashing “shipper camps” or on screen performers none of that, at all. I’m just saying I watched “Lois & Clark” for the shipper aspect because that was the main story arc was that series. But Smallville I watch for Clark’s journey and to some degree Lex’s journey to their iconic rivalry.
People can enjoy this series, for different things I’m just saying shippers were never my main focus or enjoyment.
@Woo
I’m with you. The show for me has always been about Clark. However, I think I’m the only one who thinks seasons 5-9 are much better than 1-4. The reson for that is because of the whole shipper thing. It seemed to me that the first four seasons were maily a teen drama and a little bit of Superman mytho. But season five came and it became more of a action drama and heavy on the mythos. I still absolutely love 1-4. But I always laugh when people say how much better 1-4 is cuz I’m aone in thinking they aren’t. :)
@Donny, yes I was aware of that. All of the fans of Smallville have been very very generous over the years to various charities and with their time. The Clana website, Sweet, has made numerous donations over the years. The Clois website, Divine Intervention, has raised a ton of money for various charities and put scrapbooks together as well. And yes, the Chloe fans have also been extremely generous. And I’m sure I’m only scraping the surface. The fans are extremely gracious and generous. ALL the fans have been generous over the years to various charities. That being said, my feelings on the commercial still stand for the reasons that I listed above. Feelings that I’m entitled to whether you agree with me or not. I don’t approve of the behavior that proceeded it by many of the people involved towards Erica Durance and I have no issue with stating that out loud and standing by that statement. That being said, I applaud those fans (like Sara above) who are innocent in all of this and just truly love Allison and want to celebrate her. And I stand by my statement that I think Allison Mack is a lovely and talented woman and I thank her for her 9 years of loyalty to this show. She didn’t have to stick with the show for 9 years but she did. And really…she doesn’t have to come back next year even if it’s only for a few episodes but she did because she cares about the show. She’s a classy lady and I wish her NOTHING but the best. I’m sure I’ll follow her in her post-Smallville career because I DO like her. (Just as I like Kristen Kruek and have followed her post Smallville.)
@Woo, I don’t think you are saying anything that people on here don’t agree with. Everyone on here knows that Clark is the most important aspect of the show and that it’s his journey that matters first and foremost. I think you are echoing everyone’s sentiments. Everyone that posts on here knows that Clark is the most important person in the story.
On a more fun note…how awesome was Tom at the upfronts yesterday?? He has developed such a presence over the last 10 years.
It was so great to see him out promoting the show!!!
@Andrew Well, this is how I always looked at Smallville story wise. Seasons 1-4 was about the transition from a small town to a big city and realizing who you are and or where you come from and the reactions to that. Not for just Clark, for Chloe, Lana, and Lex. Seasons 5-7 Were really about all right, my usual comforts and things that I believe didn’t exactly hold true and I’m getting my feet wet in the adult world and feeling my way in the world. I don’t know where I’m going, but I know I’m going somewhere. Seasons 8-10 We are adults, we are in the adult world, not everything is black & white, we know what our place is in this world. Specifically this pertains to Clark.
chloe’s leaving….sadnesssssss shes always been my favorite and i think she shoould stay on all season but its allisons choice, and hopefully one of those several episodes willl be the finale. please please please tom try and bring back annette, allison, and micheal for the finale!! pleaseeeee, and maybe even sam jones, if hes not in jail? btw does anyone know what happened to that story? i havent heard anything of it?
Rewatched “Salvation”. when Ollie was in the ducts, Chloe called him her favorite MOLE MAN. MOLE.MAN.MOLE…’Nuff said
Allison’s not totally gone guys. Kelly and Brian will make the episodes when she is in them, count. Heck, looked what they did for Martha and Perry this season.
It probably mean Erica is in all 22 this season (YAY!) and Allison will probably be in as many as Erica in season 4.
how many was erica in in season 4? and also i would be very happy if allison was in as many as erica in say season 5 or 6, like 12 or 15 or something. at least over 10 please
It was a 13 episode deal in Season 4. It has fluxuated ever since. Season 9 has been her biggest season. Hopefully next year she will be in every episode, I’m fine with Chloe being on a 13 episode deal as well.
