Season 10 Is A Go!

Late thursday afternoon The CW issued a press release concerning The 10th season of Smallville. Let’s get right to it, shall we?
The CW Network has announced that its hit series SMALLVILLE will return in the fall of 2010 for a momentous tenth season.
SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”), based on the DC Comics characters. Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson serve as executive producers, along with James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
SMALLVILLE, a modern retelling of the Superman legend, stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent. The series moved to Friday nights this season, where it currently ranks as network television’s #1 show in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-49. Additionally, SMALLVILLE has dramatically improved The CW’s ratings performance in its Friday 8:00-9:00p.m.time period by 67% among adults 18-34 (1.5/6), 200% in men 18-34 (1.8/7), 75% in adults 18-49 (1.4/5), 183% in men 18-49 (1.7/6) and 74% in total viewers (3.12million).
SMALLVILLE joins the five previously announced series – THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, GOSSIP GIRL, 90210, SUPERNATURAL, and AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL – which will all return for another season on The CW.
This is some really fantastic news that I think we all were expecting. The suprising thing for me was how well Smallville has done in the rating after being moved to friday nights. I follow the rating results after a episode airs, but I have not seen the numbers compiled to show how well it is doing on fridays.
We would love to see how excited you are about this news by leaving a comment below. Remember, if you are on “The Twitter” pay attention on fridays because there is usually a campaign to get Smallville on the top trends. It’s been very successful this year in making that happen and The CW interacts with the fans quite a bit when the trending campaign starts. Join in on the fun!

Personally, I don’t need a return to smallvillle high, the torch or a freak o the week. The show has grown up. All I need to do is look at Clark to see how far we’ve come. He’s finally acting like a man and he’s appealing both in his hero persona and as the romantic lead in a way he never was early on. As for Chloe, honestly, I could do without her. I know a lot of people on here like her but she’s never really been a fave of mine. I always thought she was ok. I’ve always found Lois way more appealing than Chloe even early on. I guess these things are all a matter of opinion. Steve talks about his crush on Allison and that’s totally cool. I’ve just never found her that attractive. She’s a super cute girl but does nothing for me. But I do think that Lois might be the most adorable woman ever. If I were Clark—I’d be in love with Lois too. I find her utterly sexy and entertaining. I see her appeal so by proxy I see the appeal of the Clark and Lois relationship. I totally get why CK would love her. My guess is that women who like Clark feel the same way from LOis’ perspective. But Chloe has just never really had my interest and I’ve had found her to be quite difficult to like as of late. I wouldn’t be sad to see her go. The show needs the money for other more important things. I’m sorry if that’s offensive to anyone but that’s how I see it.
@ Joe: a man after my own heart.
CAn someone tell me what episode that pic is from at the top of this post? VERY cinematic!
The pic is from ECHO when he is looking over the police and bomb squad at the beginning.
Thanks superville8! and not to a perv, but Joe, if you find Erica Durance attractive, check out the 2003 movie House of the Dead. You get to see a lot more of her. A whole lot more if you get my drift. Her…assets are the only thing that make that movie watchable. I learned about it from the Smallville wiki, but she is credited as Erica “Parker” in it, as it was before her 2nd marriage.
@Joe I just think it’d be nice to have an episode to “look at where we came from and look how far we’ve grown” I thought about Chloe the same way that you did in the first two season of Smallville now I’ve grown to be attracted to her and enjoy her character. I would just like to go back to Smallville High because come on how many genre series last ten years especially ones that began in High School that weren’t really about High School.
I am totally excited that Smallville will be returning for a 10th season…I’ve heard that Allison Mack (Chloe) may not be back in the 10th Season but I’ve enjoyed all the characters…would love to see Bruce Wayne in Season 10. Who knows we may see a 10th season episode that harkens back to the 1st season…would be fun and I’m looking forward to it regardless of what comes!
Bruce Wayne. Diana Prince. any Green Lantern. I was hoping for an episode entitled “Shazam” where we could see a captain marvel fight, but they took that plot and made warrior.
@Charlie Untz Yes exactly I don’t care what kind of episode we get, but I feel there needs to be an episode that calls back to the first two seasons of the series. I would love Geoff Johns and write a JLA episode with Impluse, Green Arrow, Canary, Martian Manhunter, Zantanna, Cyborg, and Wonder Twins. Derek and Steve have said numerous times on the series that “Justice” should have been given the same treatment that “Legion” and “Society & Legends” got. I didn’t mention Aquaman because I’m assuming he is busy with “Blue Mountain State” and “V” Vandervort I can tell from the previews is still on that series. But the ones I mentioned some of them should be in a JLA episode penned by Mr. Johns.
I agree. everything at all times should be written by Geoff Johns. I’m sure this is a completely reasonable request. AND YES! People should stop working on other shows to be on the show that WE like. I’m sure you can tell i’m being sarcastic, but I do agree, Johns rocks and who wouldn’t want the whole JLA on screen.
I’d also love to see a training montage. JLA practice, time trials, sparring. I think it would be cool to see them experimenting/honing with their abilities.
I personally have a lot of love for the new writers that we’ve had this year: Jordan Hawley, Anne Coffel Saunders, Landis and Swift. I still love BQM, Septin and Meyer killed it (in a good way) with “Kandor” and “Conspiracy”, and Whitehead and Henderson completely owned me with “Metallo” and “Crossfire”. If GJ wants to do another episode, I’m not gonna say no, but I have loved what the current writing team has been giving us week to week. Even my least favorite episode of this season was still a solid episode (that would be Roulette, which didn’t balance the Ollie-centricness with a healthy dose of Clark the way “Disciple” did.)
One guest spot for Alan couldn’t hurt, but I doubt they have enough in the budget to get all the actors, let alone their powers. Personally I would like to see Lucas Luthor return to be a thorn in Tess’s side, the actor is already on the CW payroll for vampire diaries, so why not explain where he has been?
Johns would probably do a green lantern episode, could use Hal Jordan since Johns has a man crush on him anyway. Could also help promote the upcoming movie.
@ Tim: I had to put my head down for that one, lol.
Seriously though, it’s the truth. I personally am a Kyle Rayner guy, but the Lantern you start with you have a hetero-attraction to the rest of your life. Same goes for flashes and robins. I love me some Impulse and Tim Drake as well. (I started reading comics in the 90’s, can you not tell?)
I understand. I like Kyle too, and Wally is my Flash.
Although thanks to JLU, John Stewart was my GL for a LONG time. I think the Timmverse did a great job of fleshing out his character.
