I don't remember the season, probably season seven, when Clark proposed to Lana, he flew! You can pass it off as something that happens to a Kryptonian at puberty if you like, but it did happen.

I'm kind of glad that he is unable to fly at this point. Something to look forward to for Clark and his viewers. I believe that it will be sort of a rite of passage, mind set type of thing. Like Robin Williams in the movie "Hook" where he plays an adult Peter Pan.

Brian and Kelly seem to be taking a few liberties, but, in an around about way, are staying true to the mythology of the Superman character.

Anyway, I'm hooked! Tell me how to get a Smallville T-shirt!

They clearly heard the outcry from the drop in quality in the second half of season 8. I'm sure they will at least TRY to keep this above par episode streak going.

My husband actually mentioned the other day that this is the first season where Smallville has been a "must see" for him and a show that he highly anticipates from week to week. I just think that Kelly and Brian have gotten a lot of things right. Clark's maturity and development into the hero we know he will become has been a real treat. Tom Welling has been hitting it out of the park. He is able to channel a grace for this character that I haven't seen since Christopher Reeve. Anyone who ever doubted that Welling was the perfect choice to play Superman is eating their words. What I love about his performance is that he captures that reverance and grace as the Blur bur at the same time he plays such a likable Clark Kent. He's really the first actor to give us the perfect blend of those two personas.

The storyline with Zod has been interesting and has kept us all guessing. Callum Blue has really taken that character to a new level. I loved seeing Jor-El come on the show. They've had some really enjoyable guest performances from Brian Austin Green, The Wonder twins, Toyman etc. Oliver's attempted suicide and rise to heroism again provided a really interesting arc for his character and kept me invested. Tess has been fascinating with her involvement with Zod. Yes, Chloe's screentime has been reduced (and for what it's worth, as much as I love Chloe, that doesn't upset me. Chloe was in the spotlight for all 22 episodes last year and I've been really happy to see other deserving characters on the show like Lois FINALLY get a chance after 5 years to have some spotlight.) but her actions have been interesting this year. She's clearly walking a fine line right now between hero and villian. Her intentions are good but her actions are morally grey at times. I'm interested to see where they take her. What I'd like to see is for Chloe to come to terms with everything that happened last year....her part in Jimmy's death....and finally come to peace with it and move on. I'd also like to see her and Clark acknowledge their differences and try and move on into a new phase of their friendship. They couldn't stay co-dependent upon each other forever. It was time for both of them to grow up.

As for Lois, I think Erica has done a really amazing job again this season. She is Lois Lane in every sense of the word. She has this ability to make me laugh in one minute and then be completely touching and lovable the next. I've always been a fan of the Clark and Lois love story, but Smallville's version has probably become my favorite version now because this is the first time I'm seeing WHY Lois is the person he falls so deeply in love with and needs to spend his life with. I feel like in the past it was just a given that Clark would love Lois. But watching it happen on Smallville has been a real treat because I understand WHY. It's very clear to me as a viewer WHY Lois of all the women in his life winds up being the one. My husband mentioned the other day that he's always been sort of "eh" about the relationships on Smallville but that he was officially interested in Clark and Lois.

Anyway, I trust Brian and Kelly to finish up this season in a very satisfying way and if we get a SEason 10 (which I hope we do) then I fully expect that it will be done well.

I've never enjoyed Smallville more than I have this season, and I hope for a S10. The new folks in charge have turned out one fine episode after another this fall, they have practically reinvented the show, and they seem to have a backlog of great ideas. The AJ mini-movie is just the kind of exciting, new thinking that the new producers have given us-- this is gonna be great!

Wow. I can NOT for the second half of season 9. Absolute Justice sounds incredible and I am really looking forward for the return of Metallo and even Speedy. Smallville is one of the best shows on television right now and I'm hoping season 10 will be confirmed.

I'm really looking forward to a 10th season, as I've really enjoyed the first half of season 9. I'm curious to see what the next Blur/Supes outfit will be. I wouldn't mind something similar to what he has now, but with the classic primaries.

The only thing I'm worried about with an additional season is what they're going to do as far as villians go. As great as Callum's Zod portrayal has been, I just don't think he belongs on Earth for more than a year. I'm hoping that if everything goes well with Pam Grier as Amanda Waller, maybe we'll get some more corrupt government vs. capes. Maybe some Intergang thrown in there as well.

On second thought, can someone just throw some Nair into Rosenbaum's shampoo? Villian problem solved

Rich, first off I don't consider Brian's words to be arrogant. The entertainment industry is a tough business. He's the Executive Producer of the show. He needs to put on a strong and confident front to the media about he show. That's his job. Brian and Kelly (and I assume Welling) are gunning for a Season 10 and I'm glad that they are. I'm glad that they are fighting for the show. That's not arrogance....it's just good business from their perspective.

Second, I agree that the show shouldn't go 12 years or something but I think I'd be happy to see a Season 10. I trust Brian and Kelly and it does appear that they came into Season 9 with sort of a two year plan. Even Tom Welling mentioned something about that when he gave his TVguide interview over the summer. I think Brian and Kelly have done an amazing job with SEason 9. I've been watching from the beginning and I would say that this is probably the strongest and most consistent batch of episodes the show has ever given us right in a row. I want to believe that these guys know what they are doing.

Now, I do think that if and when the show gets a Season 10 it should be announed RIGHT UP FRONT that it's the final season and it should be marketed that way. I do think that 10 years would be the time to end things and i'd like to see the show get that final push in the media with Season 10 being marketed from the beginning as the final season. (Much like this season of LOST is being marketed already as the final season even though it hasn't even premiered yet.)

But do I trust this team to do right by this show and by the Superman legend? You know...I do. They have proven to me that they have a respect and almost reverance for the character that frankly I think Al and Miles lacked even in the beginning. This isn't just a tv project for Kelly and Brian. This is a character and a story that themselves are fans of and that means something to them. You can see it in the way they have presented Clark in Season 9. You can even see it with the reverance that they have treated the Clark and Lois relatonship with. I've never seen a romance done so well on this show. I think the reason everything seems to be coming together is because Brian and Kelly care about the legend.

Also, I find it interesting how much two years can change a show in terms availability. There are so many places you can recent watch Smallville back when I began watching full time back in Season Seven there was hardly anything, but now.

Well, I kind of see Rich's point, but I'm amazed by how much steam the series has picked up in terms of popularity as I am writing this I have just come back from looking at The Playstation Network on my Playstation 3 and "Pandora" is the number one downloaded episode for TV Shows on the PlayStation Network. So I see your point Rich, but I can't say I wouldn't be stunned to see a Season Ten and I think Peterson is just confident it will occur.

i love the arrogance when we get a season 10 come on as much as i like smallville it has been on to long. i do agree they have to do flight right. they are lucky they are not on Fox or ABC NBC Smallville would have gotten cancelled maybe a long time ago. idk if Brian is comeing off arronant cause he can or if he learned it from Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavin. i do hope if SV gets a season 10 it is the last season cause i doubt SV can go 12 seasons or whatever. i must admit season 9 is better then season 8 but not by much i think Kelly is the only sain one now.

Yes, I think for what we've seen so far this season it's in very good hands, and waiting for that proper moment moment is totally the right thing to do. I wish he'd fly at the end of this season but I guess that if they get a season 10, they may wait for then to do it.
