Zatanna Returns to Smallville
Smallville will see the return of a character that was very well received in season 8. That’s right, Zatanna will be on the show sometime in early 2010. In an interview with TV guide , Serinda Swan who played Zatanna in “Hex”, talk about the characters return to Smallville.
Swan talks about when she will be returning, but is very tight-lipped about why Zatanna will be back:
This time, Swan will appear in an early 2010 episode tentatively titled “Warrior.” As for the why of Zatanna’s return, the show is keeping super-silent. “But knowing the character and what she’s capable of, it’s going to be something pretty interesting,” the actress teases.
She goes on to mention how she was able to get the role for Zatanna by learning spells backwards (which is how Zatanna’s magic works) by using her ipod and practicing saying them backwards. She says that she will need to “brush up” on her incantations.
Season 9 has so far brought us a number of characters from the DC universe and the return of Zatanna just shows the direction of the show and possible building blocks for a team based confrontation at some point before the series comes to an end.(that’s my hope anyways)

Yeah, she’s great. I love it as the show becomes more comic book and less soap opera. (If I hear a character say, “What are you doing here?” one more time I think I’ll throw something at the TV. LOL
If you can remember at the end of Hex, this may mean some type of a return for Lex, however, probably not for Michael Rosenbaum
I agree with Frank, Smallville has become less about a teen television series with DC Comics characters and more about the DC Comics characters themselves. I’m very impressed reading Serinda Swan’s dedication to her role about learning spells on her Apple iPod. It does look like The Justice League is going to be coming back for something pretty huge. Hearing how Swan is being very tight lipped about return I’m just assuming that has to involve The Justice League. If you have heard the latest episode of SHoE on your Apple iPod or Microsoft Zune we know that Mia is going to be returning later this season. Hopefully, J’onn J’onzz will return for something big involving Justice League. Since they already used “Justice” for a title maybe this next one should be called “League.” Very excited!
Zatanna is cool i like the actress shes hot and Zatanna is a cool charater.
Well, I’m thrilled. Been wanting Zatanna to come back for ages now. So I’m very happy. Actually, I love where this show is going, the show it has become, because this is the show I want to watch. I don’t want it to end!
iam hopeing they could bring back Kara someday cause from interviews Laura would be game to return however sv will have to carry on without her i guess. i loved Kandor can someone please answer this was Jor-els hair white or blond maybe it was the lighting but it looked blond to me lol.
I’m loving Smallville at the moment as it moves away from it’s teen roots and into D.C. mythology – Erica durance is great as is Tom, but the News that Zatanna is coming back is the best! she’s hot and a great role. It’s cool to bring something other than kryptinite to the table as Superman is weak against magic too.
