This was awesome. Brian is so down to earth, smart, and really hysterical. He was brilliant as Metallo, by far my favorite villain Smallville has done, and I really hope he comes back.

  2. Sazia says:

I pray everyone listens or listened to this. So much truth is spoken in this podcast and I hope it gets through to everyone.
BAG is so down to earth and I am now a bigger fan of him. Great podcast! It was one of my favorites. I hope BAG comes back as Metallo, he did an awesome job!

  3. Christine says:

    I LOVE BAG!!

Fantastic podcast. He is such a great guy. Love his remarks on the show, the fandom in general and his kind words about Erica & Tom
I just hope he knows he’s got a new fan.

  4. C says:

Great episode. I love all the little tidbits about the behind the scenes, the references to Terminator and the funny comments. Brian is awesome.

Keep up the good work guys. :D

  5. Serene says:

I am so impressed with Brian in this interview. I wasn’t that familiar with his work before his SV appearance, but I am definitely a new fan based on what a truly impressive job he did in the show, and his candor and down-to-earth attitude in this interview.

Steve – You’re a very natural and pleasant interviewer. Thank you!

  6. Steve says:

I apologize in advance for the inside joke…

Make sure your iPod Touch or Zune is fully charged and ready to handle the sexiness that is Brain Austin Green. iTunes users and Zune Marketplace members rejoice in the glory of BAG in downloadable audio form. I just listened to this show on my 1 Gig Great Value MP3 player and I have to say it was great.

  7. CJ says:

Its okay review, do not like the whole stuff about bashing.

I have seen ED bashed little bit but not Lois that much, not as much as Chloe or Lana has. Those two, get the most. I can never post anything about Chloe on K-site or other forums, because I always get gang up on about my post from Clois fans. Its hard say anything.

I hope the next review has nothing about fans groups.

I hope this weeks episode has something good for Chloe not like the last two episodes.

  8. shardsofblu says:

Brian is just amazing to listen to. His thoughts on everything are pretty much spot on and you guys make a really good team in this episode. Kudos!

  9. Marinka says:

I really enjoyed this. You guys are so much fun to listen to. Cannot agree more about “Don’t like the show, then don’t watch” remark -would make fandom world a much better place. Loved Brian awesome comments about Erica and Tom and his experience on set. Here’s another big fan and hoping that Metallo will be back. He did fantastic work.

  10. Matt says:

Brian Austin Green strikes me as a down to earth, class act. His turn as Metallo was extremely entertaining – frankly the most exciting villain in Smallville since Braniac in season 7. And I suppose I don’t even have to mention the great work he did as Derek Reese – but I’m going to mention it anyways. I’ll be extremely excited to see what he does next, and if the stars align for a return to Smallville, I hope he’ll grace us with his presence on the podcast again. It was a singular pleasure to hear his thoughts on the show, the internet and the entertainment business in general.

  11. Dee says:

I haven’t listened to this yet but I can’t wait to, when I get home :)

  12. Kate says:

I really liked this podcast. Brian Austin Green seems like a really great guy and you guys had me cracking up at several points. He also seems very intelligent. It was really interesting to hear about his motivation and inspiration for his character and about his experience on the set with Erica and Tom. I have to disagree with one of the comments above. I really commend Steve and Derek for speaking out about the discord in the fandom. I’ve visited pretty much ever single Smallville fansite at one time or another over the years. And yes, all of the characters have had people complaining from time to time. That’s true. Heck, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Lana when she was on the show. But I’ve never in my life seen anything as mean and over the top as the stuff that Steve was referring to that has been directed at Erica Durance. I’ve never seen fans on Ksite who don’t like Chloe or Lana actually go after Allison or Kristin. You don’t find stuff like that on Ksite or any other site. He’s talking to a very specific group of fans that have taken their anger to a point that is actually disturbing and it had to be said. As a fan who loves every single character on this show (Yes, I adore both Lois AND Chloe equally) it was good to hear it addressed finally.

I do have one quibble with the review. Steve, I know that you were pressed for time, particularly with Brian there with you and I know that your first priority had to be talking to Brian about his scenes etc. I totally get that. I also know that you are a big fan of Chloe and Allison Mack. (I love Chloe and Allison too.) But I was dissapointed that you completely brushed over all of the development between Clark and Lois that happened in that episode in your review. Their growing love for each other is a main plot point this season. It’s important for Clark’s character growth right now. In other words, it’s not just for “shippers” anymore: it’s important to the story and to Clark’s story. We learned in this episode that he was having a hard time staying away from Lois. His feelings are still confusing him and Chloe, smart girl that she is, picked up on it. The last scene in the Daily Planet was one of the best scenes Clark and Lois have EVER had together in 5 years on this show. Even Derek said it’s his favorite scene of Clark and Lois in the entire series. That scene was about so much more than Lois just telling him about her adventures with the Blur. It was clear in that scene that an emotional shift was happening for Clark and that Lois had really really missed him. I just thought you could have taken at least a minute or two to talk about how important all that stuff was. I understand that you are a bigger fan of Chloe and that you were pressed for time….but the Clark and Lois relationship is important right now. It’s a huge turning point for Clark and it’s going to be life changing for his journey for him to FINALLY realize that he can actually love someone in a healthy and adult relationship and still be a hero at the same time and right now I feel like Kelly and Brian are hitting all the right notes with their relationship. It’s beautiful. I felt dissapointed as a listener that you didn’t spend a least a minute or two talking about how great those scenes were.

I’m honestly not trying to complain because I like your reviews a lot. Just wanted to put that out there. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and thank you for the AMAZING interview with Brian. I am definately a big fan of his now!

Love the podcast with Brian Austin Green. He is AMAZING. Steve, you two were hilarious together. I hope the two of you get that beer soon.

Steve, regarding your comments in the beginning about the controversey lately…I have to tell you that i’m not quite sure you are realy clear on WHY this small but very vocal fanbase is so mean to Erica and to Lois. I think part of it is because you are a guy and I do think most of the fans that go after Erica are women. I’ve seen a ton of that venom and I feel pretty positive that the majority of it has NOTHING to do with Lois as a character. They use that as an excuse. The reason those people hate Lois and hate Erica is because they see Clark as the prize to be won and they hate that she is ending up with him. It’s as simple and unforuntately as petty as that. Those people bring up these supposed “issues” with Lois’ character (which by the way I think are completely unfounded, not based at all on actual show canon and completely ridiculous) as an excuse for their reasoning but I think it’s really a lot more petty than that. These fans don’t care about anything except who ends up in Clark’s bed at the end of this show and since Lois is the one to end up there….they hate her. You’re a guy and unfortunately this is the kind of pettiness that I usually expect from women. (And I am one so I Can say that.)

Thank you for the amazing podcast.

    Heya,

    I looooovved this!!!

Total awesomness start to finish (actually especially the start :P). I really enjoyed hearing Brian’s angle on Smallville having never seen it before and the actuality of it compared with the impression he’d had of it as someone who hadn’t watched. It was also really interesting to get insight on the actors and their dedication to Smallville :D – I had really wanted to know if Tom enjoyed Comic Con or had come away from it terrified and it was great to know he even wished he’d gone before.

The whole bashing situation was well dealt with which was nice – I was glad to hear you explain that it was really just a tiny, unhinged part of the fandom and apologise for offending Chloe fans or others. And hearing Brian’s ideas on bashing, along with his website idea was hilarious – even I’d want a profile on that thing just to get bashed by Brian Austin Green :P.

I also found it really cool that it was a guest hosting thing as opposed to just an interview – BIG thanks to Brian for being so awesome as to do that!

    Thanks again,
    Oliviaxxxx

One of the best episodes ever, Brian Austin Green was awesome to take the time to spend two hours recording the podcast. He seems really to care about what the fans think and he really seems to enjoy doing what he does. I never watched 90210 and only became a fan of Brian’s after I watched him on Sara Connor Chronicles and now Smallville. Hopefully they ask him back this season.

  16. cassi says:

Great podcast guys!!!! Brian was fantastic on the show and the podcast. I hope he returns later in the season.

Just finishing listen to the “Metallo” episode of SHoE and really enjoyed it. Brian Austin Green just seems like a very down to earth nice guy. Who isn’t like Michael Bailey in knowing a lot of the background of DC Comics characters, but he does a deep respect for DC Comics and the genre series and its fans. I first saw him on the Original 90210 because my older brother was a fan at the time. Little Spoiler alert to Apple iPod and Microsoft Zune SHoEligans who have not listened to the episode Brian said if Kelly Sounders and Brian Peterson find another Metallo story to do in the ninth season or in a possible tenth season he would come back. Really hope they do, because if there was one thing I could complain about this episode was there wasn’t enough Metallo doing the things fans would associate with Metallo. Bottom line, I hope Metallo gets reactivated so we can see Brian again on the series’. Lastly, love the bit between Big Honkin’ and Brian. Again Apple iPod and Microsoft listeners I will not spoil it for you. I just thought it was very funny. Mole.

Steve, wonderful interview. I love BAG more than ever after listening to him. He was funny, smart and gave so much insight into the backstage Smallville. I love hearing about how the fx is done and the personalities of the cast. More, More, More!!!!!!

  19. Andrew says:

Great….Great episode loved it all around – BAG seems awesome and it was fun to listen to you two

  20. Melinda says:

Great podcast. It’s a shame Brian can’t be a full-time co-host! I loved him in the Sarah Connor Chronicles and he was great as John Corben/Metallo, but he really made a fan of me through his interview.

Steve, you were awesome as well! Keep up the GREAT work!

  21. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

  22. My husband and i were quite thankful when Jordan could finish up his studies with the precious recommendations he made from your own blog. It’s not at all simplistic just to find yourself offering techniques which men and women have been selling. And we also recognize we’ve got the writer to appreciate for this. The entire illustrations you’ve made, the simple web site menu, the relationships you can help engender – it’s mostly extraordinary, and it’s really making our son in addition to the family reason why that theme is brilliant, and that is tremendously pressing. Thanks for everything!
