SHoE AAC: Episode 129 – “Savior”
It’s finally here! Friday September 25th marks the return of Smallville and our hero Clark Kent, and the return of weekly episodes of Starkville’s House of El! Steve Glosson is back with the latest Superman and Smallville headlines, along with an indepth look at the ninth season premiere, “Savior”. Plus some great discussions and spoilers for next week. You won’t want to miss it!

Smallville was a BEAST tonight, I loved every waking minute of it (as I always do anyway) but the feel and the look and the people and the plot were so different I was engulfed the entire time. Best premiere yet?? Between this and Crusade – its up there…idk, WOW, just wow. I will fight anyone who says something bad of this episode….of this show

Loved SHoE this week. I’m still working through the long Steve/Professor Bailey podcasts from the last few weeks. I have to take breaks because I don’t feel smart enough to be listening to them! My knowledge is small and holey. Like Swiss cheese. There is vast like one of those cheese wheels that look like giant babybel. (I’m 99% sure that spelling is wrong.)
But anyway, love to the team of Steve and Derek for the opener. You guys are what made me start listening in the first place, the funny banter is as good as day one. Though no one shouted Edna in this ‘cast, surprisingly on top of it all were you? :D
Looking forward to maybe having Brian on the cast next week. Once again, you guys rock the guest starring.

Great podcast guys! What an awesome surprise to see Derek back for the premiere! I absolutely LOVED the episode, and can’t wait for next week!
Apple iPod owners and Microsoft Zune owners, rejoice even if it was only for one episode Derek Russell returned and it was great. I will go into detail more in the e-mail I will write later today. I loved “Savior” I agree with Derek, probably my favorite season premiere since “Zod” a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up, but I’m glad it is that way because one of my only problems with Smallville is with the premieres that all they seem to do is tie up what happened in the previous’ seasons finale. And really what was to tie up, other than Lois and Zod? I mean really, Doomsday is trapped, Davis has passed on, so has Jimmy and Kal-El began the training. One of my favorite scenes in this episode was the conversation between Kal-El and Chloe in the barn. I agree with Derek, that Chloe was out of line to have said what she said to Kal-El about her never asking him for anything. I was, like “Oh, so he never saved your life, right…” Although I comprehend why she ended the conversation the way she did and why she is going to be upset with Kal-El. My second favorite scene was Lois’ little glimpse of the future. I was like, “Oh My Lanta…” Never before has there ever been a season premiere on Smallville that forshadowed the season (and possible series finale) like this one did with that scene. On a final and a personal note I almost busted out laughing at my desk while listening to this episode on my computer when Derek said Steve’s quote about the “Clois” love scene: “They’re watching?!” Thank you Steve. Now I have a mental image of Ollie, Chloe, Tess, and Zod being voyeurs. LOL. Great episode guys. Can’t wait for “Metallo” next Friday. Mole.

Derek/Steve’s humor was directed towards TWOP fans who’re basically fans of the “Chlois” theory aka Lois Lane dies and Chloe steals everything that belongs to Lois including Clark, not at the general Chloe fans and if you’ve listened to their previous podcasts, they’re both huge fans of Mack.
No one has anything against Chloe fans or Chloe character but the Chlois fans who bash Lois/Erica and even Tom/Clark and the show as a whole, they deserve no sympathies from anyone because they’re mean and full of hate towards everyone.
Derek’s the man man. great episode, we need more Steve and Derek!

Derek and Steve run a professional opinon with 99% facts podcast if u want someone to butter up to your opinion then tell ur mommy ur quams dude. If u have ever listened to any previous episodes you would realize that this show is pro everything on smallville minus (noir) haha im positive that steve has even proposed to allision mack more than one time on this show. nice work SHoE hands down the only podcast that matters to me thanks guys
I have to jump in and defend Derek here. I think some of the Chloe fans are misunderstanding. Derek likes Chloe. He even commented that he thought the scene between her and Clark in the barn was a very emotional and great scene. What he doesn’t like is the small section of fandom that thinks that she is the most important characteron the show and spouses hatred at everyone else who doesn’t agree with them. Hell, I post a Divine Intervention and I love Clark and Lois but I LOVE Chloe. I’ve always liked her. I really love all the characters. I love Oliver, Tess, Kara etc. I have no hatred for Chloe at all. I’m psyched to see what happens with her this year. But that small section of her fandom makes it harder and harder sometimes to really like her. Every time I go to EW.com, or Tvguide or any other public (non Smallville fandom board) they are there spouting awful, mean things about Erica Durance or Tom or Brian and Kelly. And frankly, a lot of us are just sick of it. It makes the show look bad, it makes Smallville fandom look bad. It’s just annoying to deal with. What Derek said needed to be said and I’m proud of him for finally saying it. Someone had to call them out. The crazy/totally insane thing is that one time I actually tried to be civil and post some questions on TWOP to try and get into a friendly dialouge about the situation. I told them how much I liked Chloe and I just tried to get to the bottom of the hatred….and I got banned from the freaking site. You can’t even question their hatred over there without getting banned. You can’t even call them out on their agenda. Yet, they can use curse words galore towards Erica Durance or Brian and Kelly and that’s allowed. It’s a messed up world over there and everyone knows it.
So don’t hate on Derek for telling the truth. He doesn’t hate Chloe fans. I don’t hate Chloe fans. I love Chloe and so do a lot of Clois fans and other Smallville fans. What we hate is that small group of fans that bring misery and hatred to every single board on the net because they aren’t getting the ending that they want.
I will have to say WHAT and episode loved Clark in the suit and everything that happened. I also want to say this fan has missed Derek Russel and the Derek and Steve banter. Just some thoughts will we get to see Clark fly this season I would hope so and are we going to see Clark put on glasses? I am glad to see that Clark is embracing the training Jor-el has for him. It was great to hear Derek back even if it was just for this episode. Keep up the good work guys
Guys, loved this week’s podcast for 9.1. I’m still chuckling over Lucifer in a Snuggie and the idea of Ollie, Tess, Chloe and Zod watching Clark and Lois having sex.
It’s frustrating to see real people bashed over a television show.

Good review. Do you have any spoilers on Chloe for the next episode, beside Chloe/Clark scene. There really isn’t any spoiler of her on Kryptonsite, or anything. Is Tess in the episode, any chance of a Tess/Chloe.
I loved this episode of Starkville. Derek and Steve are class acts and I can’t wait to hear more from them! I think some fans really need to calm down and take a step back. If you find their views offensive, don’t listen. Yes, it is really that simple.
Donny – I don’t go on those sites also they usually bash Chloe, but its just a show right. I would be more worried if they bashed Allison.
I didn’t really watch this episode, just watched the Chloe scenes online. But its nice to hear peoples review for them. I hope Allison/Chloe has a good exit this season, and she doesn’t dye.
Julie, Chloe and Clark have three REALLY great scenes in Metallo where Allison really shines. Great stuff.

Just wanted to pop in and say that I thoroughly enjoyed the podcast. I was cracking up along with you over the followers of Lucifer and their snuggies. And as a Cloiser, I really enjoy hearing a nonshipper’s point of view. I might not always agree with y’all (I don’t like Chloe any more, for instance, though you two are making me want to give her another chance), but that simply gives me another perspective to consider. Derek, all I have to say is that you get a huge CONGRATS from me. I checked out that TWOP this morning and it was appalling. All I had to do was check out the discussion on “Savior” and it was filled with nothing but bitter, nasty people calling Erica Durance names, making fun of her appearance, insulting her and saying that they hoped the show would fail. They are serious morons of some of the nastiest most screwed up people I have ever seen. Derek, you are made of win. You are awesome! Stay strong and don’t worry about the backlash from those idiots. They aren’t worth it.
Loved it. Glad to see Derek back. You said that Metallo will be much better than Savior, and if that is true, I can’t wait. Also, I believe you said this podcast will turn into more of an “all things Superman” podcast” and if so, that is awesome. I have been a Superman fan since I could put on my dad’s underwear and pretend to fly. I agreed with your comment a while back that DC was amiss in taking Superman out of the Action Comics line. What do you think about how that has been going? Anyway, great podcast. Can’t wait for the Metallo one.
Guys, I am thrilled to be listening to the two of you as I type this. I’ve been a Starkville listener since more that a year before Steve came along and think the show is best when it’s you too. I love Steve’s other projects, but for this show, it’s gotta be a two-man booth, with Derek’s Al Michaels play-by-play melding perfectly with Steve’s John Madden joy.
Oh, yeah, and “Savior” was brilliant.

Great podcast, really funny… about the rant against the scientologists of the fandom, erm like, isn’t Craig a fan of Chlark and Chlois and actually encourages both?! Why would they hate him?!!!
Derek and Steve are (almost!) as much fun as the show itself. My first listen to the podcast, and I can’t believe what I’ve been missing. It’s good to hear respectful, insightful analysis that’s enthusiastic without being gushing.

Awesome episode! You had me laughing and agreeing with you. When I first ventured into Smallville, I was over at TWOP and that craziness kept me far away from Smallville fandom for a while. Their bitterness and vitriol towards a fictional show/character and actress is unbelievable. You said everything I ever wanted to say to them. You’ve got a new fan :)
