Amazing Never-before-seen Bonus Features
Available August 25, 2009 from Warner Home Video
BURBANK, CA (June 8, 2009) – Another season of Smallville means more exciting new characters, adventure and conflict, as the longest running “Superman” TV series continues to deliver great entertainment with the release of Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season on DVD and Blu-ray™ on August 25th. Fans will thrill to this collectible multi-disc set with all 22 episodes of the eighth season, plus amazing bonus features, including unaired scenes, cast & crew commentaries, and several never-before-seen featurettes including “Smallville’s Doomsday: The Making of a Monster.”
In Season Eight – starring Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore, Cassidy Freeman, Sam Witwer and Justin Hartley – there’s a new reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent, who shares a workspace with Lois Lane. There’s a new hero in Metropolis, too. No one knows who he is. But Jimmy Olsen was on the scene of one of the do-gooder’s exploits, and he snapped a blurred photo of the hero in superspeed action – a hero everyone now calls the Red-Blue Blur.
Red-jacketed, blue-shirted Clark Kent draws closer to his Superman destiny, and another Kryptonian destiny also takes shape as Davis Bloome begins to realize he is Doomsday. His mission on Earth: kill Clark Kent. So many new events (Will Jimmy and Chloe’s marriage last?), so many new faces (Tess Mercer, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy among them!), so many state-of-the-art effects – so don’t miss a single thrill-packed moment!
“Smallville is the longest running live-action ‘Superman’ TV series, a testament to its popularity and loyal fan base,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. “This is one of the most memorable shows on TV and a must-have on DVD. As with prior seasons, Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season is timed for release just in time for the Season Nine premiere of the series on The CW.”
Smallville was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, and is based on DC Comics characters. The executive producers for Season Eight are Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer, James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The series is from Tollin/Robbins Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Beginning this fall, Smallville will air Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW Television Network

Glad to see that the DVD set will be out sooner than I thought it would. Hopefully the featurette about Doomsday will be as good as the ones that were done for the Green Arrow, Supergirl and even Jimmy Olsen.
Another thing that I hope they do is have more than just a few commentaries for the episodes. Maybe having more than one selection for commentaries, like for the second season set had.
but theres no hi res audio for the bluray, would have been nice to have dts-master or true-HD, heck i’d even settle for dolby digital plus, still getting it though. would be nice to have some PIP commentaries too, make it worth the extra for blu.
you didnt mention the bluray specs so i’ll help out and do so:

same crap as dvd, just in 1080p (going to look sweet)
anyone notice how most of the that trailer isnt from season 8??? whats with that cw??
Alright, The Real Jean you arent funny. Do you honestly have nothing better to do???
I AM THE REAL JEAN!!!! YOUR NOT!!!!
What have I even done to deserve this? I made one snarky comment but i already apologized to them. STOOOOOOOOOOP IT!!!!!
NO YOU STOP IT IM JEAN!!!!!!!!
Breaking away from the Jean stuff…
I’m curious as to what episodes other than “Legion” will have commentary. It says *cast* and crew, so it would be cool to get some of the regulars on. The only time we’ve had a regular on since season 4 was John Glover last year…every other time it was just a guest character (Justin, James) or only crew.
