New Casting Details For Season 9?
Since the finale, fan speculation has been strong that the figure standing outside of Tess’ window in the final moments of “Doomsday”, was that of Zod and the vessel for his body would be that of charismatic paramedic Davis Bloome (Zod’s son, if you remember correctly). Since that time, Sam Witwer has hinted that he won’t be returning to the show for season 9, despite early rumors that two characters will die (Davis and Jimmy) but only one actor won’t be returning (Aaron Ashmore). Naturally, with Doomsday being gone for the time being, it was easy to assume that Sam Witwer would be playing the the part of the character seen in the cliffhanger of the episode, but a casting notice sent out today may soon prove otherwise. Smallville has reportedly sent out casting notices for “Mason”, a handsome charismatic charmer who savors life. He appreciates good food, loves fast cars and sees beauty in every woman. There isn’t a detail in life that eludes his senses. He is a master of seduction… knowing what everyone wants and needs before they do. But don’t let his magnetism fool you. There’s more than meets the eye. His intelligence can’t be matched. He outmaneuvers everyone in his path. Though he longs to find a home, that vulnerability can be twisted — making him a force to be reckoned with.”
These details are, of course, subject to change – but it’s interesting to think they might be casting someone else for the character of Zod, who (some theories believe) will be powerless when he shows up in Smallville. Time will tell, so take this with a grain of salt for now. It is interesting to note they did the same “double” casting with Davis Bloome though, taking Doomsday by a different name.
I hope this is not true, do the writers know superman?
I really don’t care for this, after that Season Finale. Unless I hear he will fly for sure this Season, get the glasses, or see the development of the suit.
I saw that poster on the Ksite forums and I got even more excited, and I honestly believe that Sam Witwic- I MEAN Sam Witwer should be cast as Zod and they explain it as Faora had said: You look like your father.
Mason is probably Zod, but even so, I wish they could cast Witwicki. I mean Witwer.

This is silly, and getting unoriginal fast, at least Clark, Lois, and Tess are actually back clark better fly this season, they could do so much with kandor and zod as well. Let’s see

All I have to say is keep an open mind, and don’t make any assumptions yet. However I feel that the writers will have to slow down so that the first half rehashes the things we love about smallville then the latter half of the season being geared to a CLIMACTIC ending for the series finale as well as the 10-12 episodes that will propel this season to a Superman season 9. The writers need to be sure that they have a plan, it will work. P. S FLY ALREADY
Eventhough the season 8 finale was not as memorable, the writers have given us the potential story arcs (zod, kandor, more fortress, legion, superman possibly supergirl and watchtower Chloe or Oliver and the justice leagues rescue and fruition to the double identity of Clark’s). Just some thoughts
i just want Kara Laura Vandervoort back if they bring her back i will be very happy. the reason i still watch sv is for Lois Tess and Chloe.

Honestly I will watch smallville season 9 because i want to see clark fly, and continue to become superman more and more in the season and maybe ending with lois and clark/superman in love, suit in the fortress, and chloe’s final reveal who she is (Watchtower or the one that gives clark inspiration to become superman thus becoming kind of the new jimmy idea) and Zod’s mayhem in metropolis to set it up with the movie Superman 1 and 2. Lets just say EPIC EPIC EPIC SET UP TO CANON!

Um…we have lives? I just gave you guys two pretty decent interviews that I worked hard on…I think that’ll be enough til we’re able to record “Doomsday”.
Hey, I’m fine with you guys taking a while to have the episode for “Doomsday” to be out because I can understand that Derek and Steve have lives outside of SHoE and that perhaps comes first.
Maybe to help make up for the “lateness” you can put up an edited and an unedited/uncut version of the SHoE episode for “Doomsday”. Just a thought.
So just take your guys’ time since I rather have a well done episode than a possible rushed one. Also, I’m sure that the wait will be worth it since more times than not, each episode that’s put out aren’t a disappointment.
In other words, for those who are continually complaining for no new SHoE episodes lately, give it a rest already.

Wow…you listen to their podcasts, and keep up with the site, something they do because they want to and for YOU, and you insult them for it? And even at that, it’s a terrible, terrible insult, too.
