Tariel, I think you did a great job reviewing this episode. Though I wasn’t as hard on it in my own internal review of the episode, I do have to agree with some things. I for one am quite sick of the Clana, especially since it seems all the writers want to do is keep dragging this relationship back into the forefront. I was okay with it in Season 5. After that, I felt it was overkill.

I also loved the character of Winslow Schott, played by Chris Gauthier. I immediately recognized him as Ronald from Supernatural, a character from Earthsea, and his brief appearance earlier in Smallville. I was wondering if perhaps they were doing a nod to this previous appearance of Gauthier, and I’d think the continuity of Smallville improved if that’s the case. Continuity is one of those issues that Smallville struggles with, but that’s okay. All shows have that problem, don’t they?

Scott, I could not agree more. I am so sick of people complaining because the show isn’t progressing to *their* expectations. I love how 99% of the criticism against Lana, etc., and many, many other things might very well be non-issues if people would stop looking at Smallville as a prequel and start enjoying it on its own merits as a re-imagining of the Superman origins. Maybe I should have phrased my words better, sorry. It’s just I think this season has been great and some people are having a hard time accepting the direction the show is going in. You yourself said you wished Tom hadn’t signed on for another season. Is it just the lana part you hate because you’re right about me being a minority in liking that story arc, I have family and friends who complained every week when she was on. Oh well, I do accept your opinions and sorry if I came off as to mean or harsh. I do not want to start a posting war, lol.

Thanks for the review Tariel. I think you’re spot on. Once again, Clark’s character was sacrificed in order to make Lana look good. That SuperLana arc had nothing to do with the rest of the season. I guess tptb couldn’t care less about the destroying impact this crap has on Clark’s character and the distress of his fans. As long as shipper fans are happy, to hell with Clark. He’s just the ladies’ toy after all.
That last scene in the barn was beyond ridiculous. How I wished Tom hasn’t re-signed for S9, he’s wasting his time and he deserves much better. That’s coming from a huge fan of his.

I also liked the Toyman.

I think you were a little hard on this episode. I thought it rocked and the toyman part of the episode was done to perfection. As for clark playing second fidldel to lana, it was expected. Clark is always helping others. With lana back it makes him want to have some fun without having to constantly having to save someone. This season has been great and the last part with lana and clark in the barn was one of their best scenes in the entire run to the show. Can’t wait for the return of smallville and now season 9.
