Justin Hartley To Return As Series Regular
It has been confirmed, Justin Hartley will return to Smallville in season 8, as a series regular. That’s right, E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos is reporting that in season 8 The Green Arrow will appear in 15+ episodes.
It seems as though Oliver’s story arc will deal with his past rather than his identity as the Green Arrow. At any rate this is great news for Smallville fans.

I was excited to hear that JH’s Green Arrow will be a series regular when I first heard of it. Then, when I heard that his story arc will revolve around his past, it made me think. Smallville is about Clark and this path to becoming Superman that we all know and love…And read somewhere that was the reason behind not bringing LV back as Kara as a series regular. So, if thats the case, then by bring JH back as a series regular and focus the story arc around Green Arrows past? As much as I enjoy seeing Green Arrow on the show, I much prefer seeing Kara back and watch the growing dynamics from Clark and Kara. I like the fact that Green Arrow will be back but if they wanted to focus on his past, it would of been much better if the network just did a Green Arrow spin off and dedicated the entire show on Green Arrow. Just my personal opinion but I think the whole idea of centering Green Arrows story arc on Smallville around him is a slippery slope.

I think this is a great idea, and it will work well. I think the other part of this, is they could spin it off. Where as Supergirl while possible to spinoff, is not as popular. Besides that LV being gone for at least part of the season was storyline dictated and the studio just decided to not write her back in, yet. I would be surprised if they have her come back for a special guest spot for an episode or two.

Well don’t forget that the Queens were involved in the Veritas group. Oliver’s past might relate to that, and could continue the story from the later part of Season 7, so it might not be so disconnected from Clark’s story.

i like Green Arrow and all but i want Kara back more shes Clarks family and now he has none next season, i think they kinda screwed Laura in a way iam sure she was looking forward to playing Kara in season 8 and exploring her charater, maybe Kara will return after Lana leaves i hope so i like KK but Lana has held Clark back in a way, i hope cw realizes the mistake of not bringing Kara back and fix it.

I think that Oliver is probably going to push Clark into more super hero work… i mean if he is going to be 15 or so episodes… He will have to be doing something with Clark!
