BIG SHoE NEWS: Superman - The Man of Steel
Hey SHoEligans, Derek here. We’ve been sitting on this for awhile now and felt that tonight was the right time to break it to you guys, as we’ve dotted all the ‘i’s and crossed all the ‘t’s today. Warner Bros in association with Bad Hat Harry Productions has chosen mine and Tucker’s story for the Superman Returns sequel. Not only has our story line been chosen, but we’ve been asked to penn the script for the film! To find out all the details, keep reading - as this involves SHoE as well!
First off, thank you for all the support over these past few months. Tucker and I could not be more pleased with the outpouring of open arms from all of you since this pitch was made last October. The news will be hitting Variety and other places later today, we wanted SHoE to be the place to break the news since it was you guys that made this such a big deal.
The first thing we want to comment on is the latest news of the Superman trial - this will not be affecting our film, we got the story in right underneath the time for this to all happen, Bryan Singer is on board directing and the entire cast of the first film will be returning, which is excellent news! Tucker and I will be leaving for LA next week to begin work on the script for the film and will hopefully have a final draft done in May to begin shooting this summer. The plan is still for a late summer 2009 release so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for that.
Now, for the bad news. Unfortunately having ties to this film and the biggest Superman/Smallville podcast kind of creates a conflict of interest, so I will be having to leave the show. But fear not, Steve is taking over the reigns as host and producer, and an old fan favorite, Will will be returning as Steve’s co-host to finish out season 7 and lead you through season 8 until Smallville’s end. So it’s win-win - SHoE gets to continue on and Smallville is safe with Steve and Will - and the Superman film franchise gets to continue with Tucker and I at the reigns.
Again, we can’t thank you all enough, we’ve never been excited about anything this huge before in our lives, we’re honored, blessed, and amazed at all this and it still hasn’t quite set in yet. All we can say is thank you for almost 2 years and over 80 episodes of beloved fun. You fans have put us here and it’s been so refreshing to have people cheering us on. You believed in us and the story we could tell, and now, so do they.
So it’s time to say goodbye.

That is just wrong. lol. I know you guys said they didnt choose your story but the way you wrote all that made me think otherwise. It would have been awesome though if they did.
