Tim’s “Trespass” Review
So what did Tim think of Trespass?
In many cases in Smallville, official descriptions are posted and they say what will go down, and it totally throws us off. Trespass was definitely one of those. Sometimes, this is a good thing, when the episode does that. But in the case of Trespass, it’s not a good thing.
For instance, the official description said that Chloe was going to have to face her feelings about Clark, and was dealing with the repercussions of the Jimmy-Chloe breakup. That subplot did not last long at all, which kind of disturbed me a little. It seemed like they were going to really start to begin a Jimmy/Chloe/Clark triangle, but it only lasted a few minutes onscreen. In my opinion, you didn’t really see or feel the import of it.
One thing I did like was Lana kind of pulling a “Chloe” whilst hiding out in the barn. She was really snooping around. Kinda cool to see, actually. But while she was snooping around in Clark’s room, I half-expected her to either find the octagonal key or the “S” crystal. But I was pleasantly surprised to have her find the necklace. I did not expect that all. When I’ve watched old episodes such as Visage, Exodus, and Hereafter, I often wondered when we would see that necklace again. So it was a welcome surprise.
I thought the whole “security guard enamored by Lana and wanted to save her so he could prove himself to her” plot was a very weakpoint of the episode. It felt very “Obscura” of season one. if you recall in that episode, a cop kidnaped Lana in order to save her to elevate his career as a lowly Smallville cop. In this case, the security gurad stalked, threatened, and even killed his own partner to show Lana what he was willing to do to protect her. I thought the character was acted well, but I didn’t like him (if that makes sense). So that was a weakpoint for me.
All-in-all, I thought it was the weakest episode in an overall very strong season. But I do feel that this episode was a filler episode, even though it established among other things that Lana is onto Clark’s secret, and Lex and Lana’s wedding date is Feb 24th. That’s the thing with Smallville fillers, even though they’re filler, they establish key plot points. That’s what this episode did. That’s all.
RATING:2.5/5

i think it was better thn that tim. static is still the weakest of the season. hardly no clark and a little boring.
u were right on some things though. okay review.
At first I thought it was going to be a Freak of the Week. I wish it would have!
What security would have her in a hospital room and leave her alone? then again it was the psycho guarding her.
And how did they Guy get photo’s of her in CK’s bedroom?
I liked it when Clark Said “Your Job!” Finally some backbone.
In between the lines, the J-Ch-lark sub-plot was fully developed, albeit not to my particular liking. I use to think I wanted Chloe to be with Clark. But y’know, he’s not worth it. And guess what, neither is she.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Chloe + Clark: I’m truly a devotee to their potential together. But their potential is repeatedly undermined by their coping failures: Clark’s insensitivity and Chloe’s sensitivity.
Like Chloe said about Clark, “He’s no Jimmy Olsen.” Jimm’s sensitive to her AND is willing to fight for her, even if it’s broken bones at Clark’s hands. Hey, a reciprocated love for Chloe, yay! And NO she’s not settling, because he’s not the Jimmy Olsen moron of yester-year. He’s a refreshingly hip version of the under-dog, much like Toby-McGuire’s Peter Parker. Unlike Clark, he knows what he wants.
As Lana gathered about Clark, he doesn’t love her, he just doesn’t want anyone else to be with her. You see this with the Chlark relationship: Clark practically growling about Chloe’s happiness with her bright-eyed beau.
High-School fever has faded away, while a more mature Ms. Chloe Sullivan emerges. Clark’s a great friend, but as a lover, he needs a door-busting Lois. So our softening Chloe finally does face her intimacy dissappointment with Clark, finding that J-Chloe is where she is loved. In the end, the Chlark relationship brings them to not a teen-age swoong song, but a love that fits. And it fits rather sweetly, if you can stand all that suger. While not Big Blue, who isn’t rooting for Chloe to finally be happy with a good guy.
There’s a lot of huge things happening this season that are going to take up a lot of episodes. Crimson hinted with Lois, the bizarro-Chloe with power and insensitivity, the sheer guts to deal with Clark and his issues. But with Smallville’s history of on-again-off-again triangles and relationships, the whole J-Chlark thing may just be getting started.
While emotionally and intellectually Chlark may be over with, the audience’s apetite for voyeurism wants more. For now I’m siding with the Al Gough, co-creator of Smallville, that instead of Chloe either dying, going crazy, (or ?becoming Lois?), “maybe she’ll buy a little house in the suburbs.” Though it’s drama, don’t we want our favorite characters to be happy sooner than later? I do. Go team J-Chloe!
one word: MISCARRAIGE!
she fell down a flight of freakin’ stairs!
